It was too soon for Atjun and Riya, he cared for her as a teammate but he didn't love her, if they had continued with Riya they would have had to bring in someone who could be like Sana was portraying Riya, but since the show is so new they are going to give Arjun a different girl to fall in love with.
Who knows they may bring in a someone and she could be introduced as someone he knew in the past.
