I have just watched an episode of Man Mein Hai Vishwaas (religious) and found out that in the old days, if a baby girl was born she was killed by drowning her in a pool of milk.....i have never felt so upset or sad in such a long time: this episode brought tears to my eyes.....
Apparently, it was an old religious tradition in families which need heirs to a throne, to kill baby girls like this.....
My question is : why is it called a RELIGIOUS tradition, when it is inflicting pain upon another human being??
Another 'religious' act some people perform is sacrificing animals to God: this is very wrong also in my eyes: why should you harm another living being to attain God's blessing?? In fact God wants people to do the exact opposite: no matter how small the living being or how small the act: everything should be done to ensure the safety of living beings...
Can someone also tell me if there are any other morally and religiously wrong traditions that i should be aware about (of any faith)
