HI , This is baljinder . i was watching tv and flipping by the channels and i came across a channel that showed aspects about god and i got hooked too . The guy was a muslim scientists { no offence } who raised logical questions on hinduism . Being a zero to purans i joined dkdm and so watched that prog . as well . certain questions i knew other i want the help of the form nivasis to kindly enlighten me and clear my doubts therby increasing my knowledge
* The first thing that he talked was of idol worship in india . He critised the practise by giving an example . The example was ," suppose , a stranger helps you at the road with some money and gives his card . You dont thank the card or the secretary by calling for it is useless . You would obviously thand the person by call or by meeting . In the same way thank and worship god and not the idols , statue , etc. for worshipping {thanking} wont help you .
~ agree with it . ~
* The second thing was reasonable and puts a question on our reliogion . He said that indian believe in one god and yet worsip and believe in many god and goddess . He says he agress and disagree . He gives the example of formation of white light from 7 different colors , VIBGYOR . He says that white light is made up of 7 different colors ,m violet , indigo , blue , yellow , orange and red . and they in definate proportions form a white color . Each color by itself cannot form a white ray . it needs to be associated with others to form a white ray . In the similar manner many hindus say that ultimate god is one and is splitted into 33 parts whom we call god and goddesses . He says he disagress . because as earlier stated in the example each part cannot be called a god . It would be a god only when all 33 god and godess are together {as stated in eg.} . so calling them god is inappropriate .
~ anyone help me ~
* The third thing he said that god is one whose image is uncreated . He is neither male nor female . He is not plural . He is One . So he says that name of the power { shakti } as allah is appropriate . For in hinduism god and goddess exist . And the power is away from gender . He is single and in hinduim there are so many gods and goddesses which indicates he is plural .And moreover his name can be altered as GODFATHER GODMOTHER GODDESS etc . in hinduism and god is away from it .So calling the power as allah is appropriate . and not god .
* One more thing was said by him that people consider a man as GOD . he gave the eg. of someone from india who was banned from several countreis . People consider him God and says that " he is god who was never born never died but visited earth from ~ to ~ . He says that he would consider anyone god who possess following qualities . and he does not have .
* he is one
* he does not have mother or father
* his image is increative

so is there anyone who can answer these questions , shruti , meenakshi and all other group

1st of all...the example and the idol worship are poles apart.idol worship is just another way of connecting to god...now we cant really meet god and thank or pray to him...its our faith that we see god in idols and worship them. aur its their view that they think it is useless...but for us its a very integral part of r worship
to each their own.

Hi interesting topic.---
Important point Muslims when they visit Haj actually worship a large black stone in the Kaaba
http://sakina.wikidot.com/the-black-stone
Idol worship was started way back by our ancestors to help us to focus . It is difficult to pray to something that is not visible or has no form. So a stone form was given representing that someone or something that is all powerful.
Think about it ..
who is god.?
God can be anything.. a feeling , an entity, an emotion . , or simply the very air we breathe.
Why do we worship?
When we worship we concentrate on the object, in this case the "idol"
When we concentrate on a single object all thoughts are gone. Leaving the mind blank . When the mind is blank u find happiness.

as for two...now if you cut an apple into two...the two halves together will make 1 apple but will you deny calling the two peices and apple?? nahin na?okay i know i'm speaking rubbish..but still get the point

In the same way...hindus believe in the trinity...that is brahma the creator , vishnu the preserver and shiva the destroyer. all the gods that we pray to today are either their descendats or their family or their different forms or avataars. thay sure are all inter-dependant and inter-connected on each other and they all are different aspects of one supreme being...but that doesnt mean you cant call them god!

But remember god is not found in a stone idol. he is within you.
When u sit in front of ur god in ur pooja room or ur praying a temple , mosque or church .. who are u talking to? god. ?
No not at all,, you are talking to yourself. Find god within u.
Ur words ur actions will become positive.
ur difficulties will start looking simple.
U find a reason to smile in ur sadness too.

for the third...its the same as the 2nd...they are just different aspects and forms of the same being...
and if you are watching DKDM...then u should be knowing the concept of ARDHANARISHWAR ??? its the best example that i can give you of that male and female gods-goddesses thing.

even though we have many gods and goddesses...the females are the ardhangini or the true or other half of their husbands...they are nothing without the other and are whole only together. just for name sake thay are name sake but for real they are one only! shiv - parvati are the bestest example i can give you of this!

There is only one powerful being that is the shakthi .. For convinience we call her feminine.
Shakthi is simply put is the supreme power.
From the supreme power was born various other aspects , the creator, destroyer and the preserver. All aspects of all living things .
Anything created has to be destroyed and till it is destroyed it will have to preserved too till the time comes for it destruction.
Since all the three aspects cannot be shown in one the tridevs were born .
Now every male aspect needs to balanced by the female and the Tridevi's were born.
The various purans were written by people who may be felt that each of those tridev's were their ideal god.
And so formed our mythological stories

Why do we go to temples??
There is a scientific reasons too. Please read
There are thousands of temples all over India in different size, shape and locations but not all of them are considered to be built the Vedic way. Generally, a temple should be located at a place where earth's magnetic wave path passes through densely. It can be in the outskirts of a town/village or city, or in middle of the dwelling place, or on a hilltop. The essence of visiting a temple is discussed here.

Now, these temples are located strategically at a place where the positive energy is abundantly available from the magnetic and electric wave distributions of north/south pole thrust. The main idol is placed in the core center of the temple, known as "*Garbhagriha*" or *Moolasthanam*. In fact, the temple structure is built after the idol has been placed.

This *Moolasthanam* is where earth's magnetic waves are found to be maximum. We know that there are some copper plates, inscribed with Vedic scripts, buried beneath the Main Idol. What are they really? No, they are not God's / priests' flash cards when they forget the *shlokas*. The copper plate absorbs earth's magnetic waves and radiates it to the surroundings.
Thus a person regularly visiting a temple and walking clockwise around the Main Idol receives the beamed magnetic waves and his body absorbs it. This is a very slow process and a regular visit will let him absorb more of this positive energy. Scientifically, it is the positive energy that we all require to have a healthy life.
