Now, Abhijeet on stage

shaheen@mid-day.com Abhijeet Sawant Indian Idol Abhijeet Sawant will perform in his first stage show called Aapka Apna Abhijeet Live. The concert will be held on August 4 at Shanmukhananda Hall in the city. He follows Idol finalist Rahul Vaidya who has been staging Rahul Vaidya Live shows since the past few months. The concert, interestingly, will also have his uncle, Sanjay Sawant perform. The show has been organised by Mamta Parekh of Sakhi Entertainment along with Ashok Avhad and Sanjay Sawant. It is presented by Pramanik. "This is the first in the series of concerts that we have planned. Abhijeet's uncle is an equally talented singer. He will also belt out popular Bollywood numbers," says Parekh who has seen Abhijeet perform from his childhood days. "Whenever there was any special event or private party Abhijeet would come along with Sanjay Sawant and perform," she adds. Abhijeet will sing his favourite Bollywood numbers including tracks form his Aapka Abhijeet and Yaaron albums. Though he has performed in several stage shows organised by Sony and other groups, this will be his first own stage show in his name. Other Idol finalists like Aditi Paul and Prajakta Shukre also perform at music events but have yet to go solo on the stage front. Abhijeet, who is performing in Assam at present, was unavailable for comment. Tickets for the show vary from Rs 100 to Rs 700. shaheen@mid-day.com
