Truly Kicked!

Director Anshuman Singh fells actor Ravi Gosain while showing off his skills in the martial arts on the sets

Director Anshuman Singh, known for his thrillers, went into an overdrive recently, while training actor Ravi Gosain for an action scene. It happened like this: Apparently, Anshuman and Ravi were having a casual conversation in between shots, when Anshuman began boasting about his martial arts skills. Ravi, however, refused to buy Anshuman's claims and challenged him. The result didn't work out in Ravi's favour. While displaying his skills on Ravi, Anshuman ended up injuring him.

Ravi says, "Anshuman was boasting that he is skilled in the martial arts. I thought he was joking when he said that he could throw me to a great distance with just a kick. I challenged him and asked him to demonstrate his kick. So he first kicked in the air. Then he aimed a kick at the chair on which I was sitting but ended up kicking me by mistake. I was thrown off the chair, and hurt my hand badly. Anshuman then took me to a doctor who administered first aid. Now I accept that he is an expert in the martial arts!"

When contacted, Anshuman couldn't control his laughter while talking about the incident. He said, "We were just fooling around, and Ravi challenged me. I often face this problem. Actors underestimate me because of my looks. So I thought I'd show my skills to Ravi. Ravi didn't know that I am a state level Taekwondo player. I like to demonstrate some moves to my actors sometimes, which they can use for action scenes. But in this case I miscalculated and hit Ravi instead of hitting the chair. Poor Ravi, he was badly hurt. But I took him to a doctor nearby.

Past Tense: Interestingly, Anshuman Singh had also hurt Salil Ankola some years ago while training him for an action scene
