Don't know if this one has been mentioned before.
Ehsaan tera hoga mujh par (Junglee)
We have a version by Rafi Saheb and one by Lata ji. I like Rafi Saheb better in this one. Especially where the antara starts 'Tum ne mujh ko hasna sikhaya' ...no one matches rafi saheb when it goes that high.
Mohd. Rafi's version is so good and so popular...i cannot even recall lata Mangeshkar's version.
😊 Yes, indeed the Rafi version is much more popular. That reminds me of another one where the male version is more popular. 'Zindagi ek safar hai suhana' from Andaz. Don't know if it has been mentioned. We all remember Kishore da's version, there is also a version sung by Asha ji. When we watch them in the movie, they are both good versions and fit in the movie well. But if we just hear them, Kishore da simply stands out.

there is this movie dil vil pyaar vyaar..which has Rd burman hits recorded by todays singers..
it was aweful particularly the"ghum hai kisikepyaar mein"..and" hansini meri hansini" sung by none other than haiharan and kavitha krishnamurth(i am their fan)...unhone us gaane ko itna thod marod ke gaaya hai...added so many murkies, probably to showcase their classical training...but didnt work at all ...singing straight and simple bhi ek ada haiand believe it or not equally tough.
There was a time when the market was flooded with cassettes/CDs of the upcoming/established singers singing the golden era songs of golden era singers (Lata, Asha, Rafi, Kishore, Mukesh). Even the established singers like Anuradha Paudwal had came out with a CD of Latabai's songs.
I never bought or listened to these cassettes/CDs. I can listen to the golden era songs from other singers only in a live programs. If I have to listen to recorded songs anyway, then I would rather listen to the original singers than the "duplicate" ones. The only exception to this was Sonu's CD of Rafi sahab's classical songs. Sonu sungs them so well and it was refreshing to hear those gems from a fresh and equally capable voice. I had purchased that CD and few other of Sonu's CD where he sung Rafi sahab's songs.
The worst worst worst was Jagjit sing in "Close to My Heart". Jagjit Singh is my favorite ghazal singer and I have a good collection of his albums. But in this allbum, where he sang golden era film songs of both male and female singers, he twisted the original tunes so much and sung them so bad that I felt like breaking my CD player when I heard them first...😡

Hey, our national song - Vande Mataram..
Sung by lata mangeskar, AR Rehman, Shankar Mahadevan, and many others...
Vande Mataram from Anandmath vs another other version, just for singing(just listen to it with no video's) blows away the rest of the versions. Even Lataji tried duplicating her own effort in I think 1998, and she could not. Even others who have attempted are no little folks, but that version of Anandmath is out of the world.
The deliverance, the pitch, the feel of the song are out of the world, they used to play that song for 26th Jan and 15th Aug special chitrahar's and Vivedh Bharathi, dont know if they still do it, but that used to be the start of republic day and Independance day and by far my fav song
I have not heard a singer keep the pitch, maintain that much of breath control in a live song that much(I am pretty sure they did not have the overlaying of tracks in 1950's)
Just wanted to chime in
