Disclaimer- I am no way discrediting the fact that 4 lions PR failed big time but at the same time it doesn't take out any sheen out of the unprofessional attitude of Barun Sobti..

A sinner calling others sinned doesn't relieve him of his own...

So it seems like Barun Sobti has finally put down his papers, it was on expected lines as he had never shown much interest nor commitment towards the show during/after shooting of his movie. Even in his interviews he was non committal on his association with the show but never shyed away speaking about his Bollywood Dreams..

4 lions is the first production House in the history of television to give a leave of absence for 11/28/40/45 days a main lead and that too for a romantic drama, Barun did shoot for a few days but the damage to the show was done.

Now when the show is in the doldrums and the TRP is consistently out of Top 10 Barun wants to quit..So Barun is leaving when PH and fans need him the most...The show may not survive his exit at such a precarious moment and even it does it will take a long time for people to accept a new lead...

He once famously said that any one can play ASR, may be you are right and I think PH should definitely look out for your replacement. But would Barun would have achieved what he has achieved minus ASR...

The answer is not too difficult to guess...

They very show which has given you everything you are leaving behind nothing...

P.S- If you had to leave why do a charity for a few months you should have had made up your mind either way...one is only bound to sink if he/she has two feet on different ships...

Edit- Here Un-professionalism is pointed out by the fact that he is non committal to the show and his performance standards have dipped drastically. He is sailing with feet on two boats.

Leaving or not he is still not behaving like a professional should behave...

And i dont understand BS is no God, he can make wrong decisions, if people are pointing out on his decisions why the fuss?? whatever he does he knows but that doesnt stop someone from expressing their concerns.

Lets treat him as human like us.

well it was jan-feb 2011 BS was out of work and had just wrapped up Baat hamaari paaki hai in december along with his real life wedding.

He had been offered a Serial in around Jan-feb 2011. He had signed the show and evrything of that contract. just 15 days before commencement of shooting. He is offered IPKKND by Star Plus and Rajesh chaddha.. He signed IPK leavin that other producer in amazement suddenly.

I dont wanna name that producer here and the show here.

Its true that we benefitted with him doing IPKKND. But he had signed a show and left it just after an exciting show came by.

I dont wanna say how opportunustic he is or not. Or how ethical, justified its or not. I leave it to all your justification .

But Commitment is a huge word..even big people fail on that. I gave that example so better we treat TV stars as normal human beings who can do things that may be good or bad to suit them..No one is perfect.

A tv star is not exempted from any scrutiny.

in past also he accepted a detective series Keshav Pandit, a male oriented show by Balaji.. Later he denied that out of sudden. I know negative reports circulated against him that time in the industry.He wasnt a big star then.

So these things are normal . If BS doing a movie irks anybody there is nothing to be offended, If he goes ahead with his decision ...his call altogether.No issues

if his fan base not happy, nothing wrong. Nobody can force him But evryone can certainly express disatisfaction too

After MKM spoiler, how many proofs needed, I think after he leaves still all will say we trust him, we want confirmation, blah blah.

ok 1st of all

1)Barun nd every one knows ipk is all about arnav khushi nd arnav khushi are all about barun sanaya .no one can replace these 2 at any cost!

2)i love barun a lot nd i want him to get more success ,yes he got right to take decisions about his life nd family his goals nd actions,but he has got no right to take decisions about the/this show , no one,no fan girl, no die hard fan can deny that he was no one before ipk ,the show that gave him fame that made him barun sobti from just barun ,the show becoz of which he received so much love appreciation nd support ,he is planning to leave the same show? when he clearly knows ipk is all about his nd san's chemistry nd this show deserves to be on air for at least 6 months more ,!

if barun leaves then its obvious that show will go down the drain ,no matter how much san will work hard whole team will work hard but accepting a new hero in a love story ,specially a heart throb hero like arnav/sobti is not possible , same thing was must if san would have been leaving the show!

what about the time when he used to talk about trpz nd used to be worried about it ,what now? now he is no more worried? is he a child to not understand this show needs him ,needs both him nd sanz for trp,in its sensitive phase,in its weak phase, becoz now he doesn't fell like being a part of it!

2) Thinking 4 the carer thinking 4 the family is not wrong at all ,but leaving a thing that made him able to get offers ,it is highly unprofessional ,no matter how much we deny but it is cheating nd his work morals would/should be questioned at every cost!

3) Coming to his movie , its just a small project ,how can he take such a big risk for ph who uses Asr's cloths for promotion!

in this matter he needs to get a reality chek! he has a strong fan base but hardly few of his fans will watch his movie other will don't even give a dam after ASR is no more!

ok yes rest will watch it on tv but no one will use his/her cent over it!

ok he has full right to think about his coming life bt if he thinks on the base of what he is today ,he will be a rock star in b.wood then its his biggest ever M.U , i do want him to be successful but Asr is small screen thing ,i feel barun is famous becoz of the role he got ,what if pple didn't like comedy or some other barun,then what? till then Asr will be also gone,i strongly feel he is doing a big mistake!

p.s! i madly badly hope he hasn't left the show! he should not!

pps ..i stand by barun for his life but i never ever stand by him for leaving ipk, for ruining a show just becoz of his goals!

ppps ..as a fan i feel like tearing every thing nd breaking my head for falling in love with barun! BAS!

ppps! i still wait for a proper official announcement coz i lub him dammit nd i want to trust him! God plz! 😭

I dont know where to start from. Daily we are getting news that he is quitting, he is not quitting and bla bla which is totally pissing off.

First he said he is not quitting, then we got the news that he gave two month notice to quit the show. Dont know which of these news are true. But if he is indeed quitting he will be proved a liar and that he played with fans emotions by lying.

Its Mr.Sobti's career, his life, and his call at the end. He has every right to do anything with his career no denying. But if his decision is going to effect the show what made him what he was today, I wont support that decision. Yes everyone is opportunist and will grab one in the first place. Even i will do unless my decision to grab the opportunity doesnt effect the company, my colleagues and everyone who worked for its success and who and which gave me the chance to explore further in my life.

The PH(lets not talk about their PR skills for time being) and channel were very co-operative when he wanted to explore further in his career As far as I know, no PH or channel will give 45 days leave to the lead and that to in love story. But his decision and willingness to do the movie gave this show a huge blow which gave him an identity and humongous fan following. And now, when he is needed for the show to pick up he wants to leave the show( if at all the news are true)?

I totally agree with DKS, that there is consistent drop in his commitment to the show after his movie and kidnapping track. I didnt get to see the same aura which he set for ASR character after his return. So what might be the reason?

I second Rishi's post because even I know that he left a show after signing the contract papers before signing for ASR role.

Its his wish in the end and I neither want to complain nor wish him ill luck about it, but his leaving show will effect the show's future, everyone related the show either cast or crew. And there is no meaning for Sanaya's hard work in his absence which she did with no complaints. She is a thorough professional and I always love and respect her for that.

And him wanting him to sail in two boats at a time, will be leaving him no where.

Okay, we haven't got a proper official confirmation yet but this is my opinion regarding the issue of him leaving just in case he does.

I would say that it's his wish to pursue a career in Bollywood. He can do whatever he wants provided that he sees all the pros and cons.

Over here, the show has already received a blow from his previous film's shooting and his leave and frankly I don't see the movie as a proper launching one. The PH of the movie themselves are in the launching phase. And now, if he leaves, this show will receive another blow again and might even go off air which I wouldn't like if they had some strong and tight storyline to show and that was being ruined only because of BS. Just like Barun's put a lot into the character ASR in these 1.5 years, even the whole cast and crew has done the same to make the show a successful one. i don't want the whole cast and crew to suffer because of one person. I agree that the PH is not good at PR skills and all this chaos was created because of them but I also can't deny the fact that they actually supported Barun's leave and now they'll have to face this. For me, the mistake was from both sides, the PH and Barun. In the end, Barun has earned a lot of success and fame from this show.

Like Rishita said, he does change his mind a lot and very fast that too. I just hope he takes the right decision. It would be really nice if he waited for his first movie to be released and saw the result. It is not easy to get into Bollywood and be successful and it is even more hard to maintain that position.

Well, we can't really do anything about that. What has to happen will happen whether we like it or not. We can go on because after all, this is just a means of entertainment for us but the same thing is Barun's bread and butter. I think he should consider it, if the movie doesn't go too well and he has to get back to TV. At that point of time, this show might not be there for him to get back to and he might not get as good roles or achive as much success. It's just a matter of contemplating. I just wished he thought of staying back in the show till they had something to show and anyways the show would end if they really didn't have anything else.

His decision might be good or it might be bad. Only time will tell...

what most irks wen people question about being loyal and defining FAN duties.

I just know we all are rational human beings.

yes we want him to prosper in his life.

When i wrote that post TV actors and destiny i wrote it as a media professional based on my observation and study over these years.It was very lenient.Fact based.

But here i write the comment as anguished fan .

there is a diffrence between the two

i know myself what BS means to me and if things dont go well for him ahead how terrible it will feel to me then.

We always think of pros and cons before stepping some thing and as a fan i hv the right to think about his betterment too.

I will await what holds ahead...

We should not give such signals by statements saying " let him do movies as of now "

"let him leave IPKKND" "i stand by barunn for leaving IPKKND"

If we cant help the PH in crisis then we shouldnt hamper their attempt by giving such statements .

But let atleast give a chance to PH to try out. but before that those statements i mentioned in beginning look as if we all are desperate to push him to films by leaving IPKKND.

Every one has dreams Rima no one is stopping him from doing what he wants my point is the timing of the news and him being tentative also doesn't go down well for the show nor for the fans..If he has to leave then no point making a half hearted attempt as his acting and his grooming both have gone down in the drain...

A film is not a steady source of income but a lumpsum amount a show can end any time actors live on their savings..till they get next offer..

I again disaree on the balancing part he is not doing justice to either his film or the show

SP contract is not binding, he is not a fool to sign a bond...notice period clause only is there

I am no way abusing just telling the facts incase he quits...I he doesnt then also most of the points are valid

I love the show for ASR and Khushi..Barun is just a face for ASR...

I have a different opinion regarding this topic.

It is his career and he can decide what he wants to do with his life. If the decision to enter Bollywood will sue his career or take him to heights is another question. But in my opinion we should not blame him for having taken this decision. Let him do what he wants. It is his life afterall.

And I don't think he is being unprofessional either. If he serves his notice period as mentioned in the contract his slate will be clean with the production house. And as for the fans... No actor is EVER obliged to do anything for them.

I will be heart broken if he leaves. I will not be able to imagine another actor playing ASR because Barun's face is imprinted in my mind. I did feel a sense of betrayal but I am over it. I had some days to think regarding this topic and in my opinion it is completely irrational to blame him. We live in a democracry. Freedom is one of the basic elements. So Sobti gets a green signal from my side. I will respect his decision and he has my best wishes for his further career.

He is an actor. As i have said multiple times - There is no loyalty in acting. He who is a loyal actor is a fool. You will never improve as a actor if you do not move on.

There are only two reason why an actor will quit.

1)If there is a chance to improve his acting ability usually goes hand in hand with more money.

2)His current project does't inspire him.

I think it's a little of both in Sobti's case. The PH are obviously not skilled enough to retain their actors. They should either do this by force or with the quality of their work. 4lions has not been able to do either.

Bottomline - While i am heartbroken, i don't regret seeing Sobti as ASR. He gave me a character to love and feel for. Not many can do that. For that i thank him and wish him luck.

I liked Sobti as ASR and for me it was him who imparted life to ASR and not the other way around like many here feel. He made ASR just as much as ASR made him. Now i still highly question ASR's acting ability and therefore will certainly not be watching his movies if i can help it, but at the same time i wont watch IPK if it goes on w/o Sobti.
