Sidharth Malhotra: Karan is gutsy, others are hesitant

Quiz any newcomer or an established actor about their future plans and chances are that a standard reply around 'Talks are on with a couple of filmmakers and there should be an announcement soon' would come one's way. However it is different for Sidharth Malhotra, one of the three newcomers arriving with Karan Johar's STUDENT OF THE YEAR. Instead of making any tall claims, the youngster calls a spade a spade and says that industry is still hesitant around sending any offer notes before his debut film actually plays on screen.

"See, people do ask me about my next project and all but really, the vibe right now is that filmmakers are still hesitant to call us for their next because they are insecure about how we would turn out to be. They are waiting for STUDENT OF THE YEAR to be released first. This way I would say that Karan has been gutsy. He didn't have any reference point for us, he didn't have any idea about how we would look on screen, and still he roped me, Varun and Alia in. On the other hand, despite the film's promos being on and songs and all playing on the small screen, people are still unsure about what we have to offer," smiles Sidharth.

In that case one wonders about the news making rounds that Ekta Kapoor's production house had shown keen interest in him and had even signed him for a two film contract.

"All of that is just a conjunction," says Sidharth, "Yes, Ekta did have some good words to see but nothing concrete has actually come out so far. As I said, it's a wait and watch for everyone. This is the reason why I say that Karan is one of the most daring filmmakers out there. He believed in us when we were nobody."

Well, come 19th October 2012 and it would be interesting to see how these nobody trio indeed turns out to be somebody after the film's release.

Everyone has to think something before they invest their precious into other precious thing. Karan is not gusty but hesitant. If he is gutsy why did not he pick up any telly actor for Soty. . Because he thought he would make mistake by signing that actor. Sidharath, Karan choosen you because he sees his love interest in you. If you are aware of it, please don't pretend to be unaware of it when your talk is on with Media.

Don't like how these newbies shower their debut directors with all sorts of good adjectives, but judge the others in the same breath! Not only do they lose their credibility as newcomers, they come across as very pompous and arrogant brats. Totally classless, I must say!

Don't these idiots have the slightest sense that they'd have to work with other directors in the future too. Kab in bainganon mein rai ke daane barabar bhi aql aayegi! Saale paindoo khachchar kaheen ke!
