Writer's note (PLEASE READ): First of all! I'm still hyperventilating seeing all of your responses! I had to leave for some work immediately after updating the chapter and when I came back to my system I almost fainted seeing the page count go up 6 pages already and that too without any of my replies. Thank you all so so much! It'll take me a while to reply to your lovely comments! But I've read each one of them! 🤗
I've not seen today's epi yet (work problems, don't ask) so I don't know what they have shown today.. Just a point of clarity here.. this fic WILL have a HAPPY REUNION.. Arshi will be united. I don't intend to drag this post 5 chapters because I'm writing another longer fanfiction which is along the same lines but which has reached 10 chapters. I'll get seriously muddled with two different story lines stemming from the same incident. 😕
So, if you want to read a separation track (post the breaking of the wedding), then Arnav's redemption track post resolving of all misunderstandings (proper one, not like the half ass apology from ASR which got over in 5 mins) and PROPERLY wooing back Khushi, then I'd suggest you to please read the other story I've written. It's my take of how things should have happened in IPK (minus Poojali's miscarriage) and henced titled "The way IPK should've been". It is written in the screenplay format (i.e. you'll feel like reading a script of the serial).

If you need a PM for any updates of this SS or any other of my works, PLEASE drop me a buddy request as it is pretty difficult to keep track of PMs. Thanks!
That said, let's proceed :)
PART 3
Dhad Dhad. Khushi had left. Dhad Dhad. She'd told him she'd slip away from his hands, and now she had. Dhad Dhad. She'd joked she'd run away so far he won't be able to find her and now she was gone. Dhad Dhad. She'd said repeatedly that she loved him. Dhad Dhad. She'd said she wouldn't leave him ever. Dhad Dhad. She'd promised... hamesha... Dhad Dhad.
His heartbeats are the only sound he can hear over the confusing jumble of voices around him. Blood surging to his aching heart is the only movement he can feel over the concerned hands holding him upright. The face of his beautiful Khushi is the only vision he can see over the blurry faces fussing over him. Arnav had been transported to another world it seems.
The house is devoid of the activities befitting a wedding; everything is still, everyone is quiet. Nani has finally given up asking anything to Sumi. Payal had already left with Buaji to go after Garima. Anjali is fussing concernedly over her Chotey. And Shyam stands next to his biggest accomplice. A look exchanges between him and Dadi, the former smiling his congratulations for the brilliant timing of her revelation and the latter giving him a acknowledging nod. Aakash was holding Arnav by his shoulder, trying to keep his frame balanced lest he fell on his face. NK was standing next to them with a glass of water.
"Bhai?" Aakash shakes him by the shoulders gently. Arnav looks at him.
"Where did she go?" a bleak whisper escapes from Arnav's mouth. NK and Aakash exchange blank looks.
"Pata nahin, Bhai (I do not know Bhai)," Aakash replies in a troubled voice. Arnav stares at him in surprise. Concern washes through his body, instilling strength in his weakening nerves.
"What do you mean, pata nahin? Woh chali gai aur tumne use jane diya? (She left and you let her go?)" Arnav's voice raises with every word. "How did you let her walk out of here Aakash?" he stands up, his anger being fuelled by his concern for Khushi's whereabouts. Aakash stands back guiltily, shifting his weight from one foot to the other.
"Woh bhai... humne unse kaha tha rukne ke liye par... (Bhai, we did ask her to stop, but...)" he slowly turns around and glances at Dadi. Arnav follows his gaze and stares at her too.
"Par kya (But what)?" he mumbles. Dadi remains stoically quiet. Arnav clenches his palm. "Par kya (But what)?" he repeats in a deadly serious voice. Neither Aakash nor NK speak a word. They realise the question is no longer being directed at them.
"Par, humne unse kaha ki Khushi ko jane dein (but I told them to let Khushi go)," Dadi confirms. Arnav's jaw hardens. If he had been angry while confronting Garima, it was nothing compared to the absolute volcano that was threatening to erupt from his mouth now. He slowly walks towards his Dadi, his persona deceivingly calm. She watches him with expressionless eyes. Arnav slowly extends his palm in front of her. Dadi's eyebrows furrow in confusion as she stares down at his hand. When she looks back into his eyes, she realises what he is asking for. Annoyance flashes into her eyes as well. So whatever she said made no difference to him? He was still hell bent? Arnav doesn't move an inch as he continues staring at his grandmother, his palm outstretched. The silence stretches between them; the air between them crackling with tension.
Finally she concedes and places the two kangans on his hand. His fingers close in around them. "Dadi, iss maamle mein aap kuch na hi bolein to behtar rahega (dadi, it would be better if you don't say anything in this matter)." The words ring clear from Arnav's mouth, a declaration of the end of his tolerance for the toerag she was starting to become. He swiftly turns around and with surprisingly agility starts walking towards the main door. He summons his brothers.
"Aakash, NK, split up and start searching. She might not have gone too far. If you find her call me immediately." Both the brothers look taken aback at seeing their brother suddenly in control, but immediately rush out to the parking lot.
Arnav turns back for a moment to look at the mandap, resolving to himself, "I'll find you Khushi, wherever you are!"

Writer's Note: PS- to my readers of the "The way IPK should've been" story, I know the length of these short chapters is getting hard to digest 😆 Don't worry, the next chapter will be a longer one. 😊
