It's going to be an evening of the women, by the women and for the viewers. It's a celebration of womanhood, their power, beauty, grace, intelligence, grit, strength and determination. Ananya, Vaidehi, Kripa, Neha, Sunaina, Pooja, Jassi, Ruchi and many more, they are all women of substance who will descend on stage to celebrate their womanhood in a special three-hour concert of songs and dances. In line with the number of shows for women presented by Sony Entertainment, the channel has dedicated one special evening of songs, dances and fashion show titled Kudiyaa Bemisaal, A Celebration of Womanhood that will be telecast on Sunday, August 27, at 9 pm So while Vaidehi battles for freedom from her impotent husband and scheming in-laws, Neha organises a revolt against the men of her house for gender justice, Ruhi struggles for her rightful place in her father's family and Kripa survives a series of heartbreaks in an unusual love story with lots of if and buts and kabhi haan kabhi na, these strong protagonists will take a short break from their reel-life battles to celebrate their strength and ability to fight for their rights against many odds. Of course keeping them company will be the same men who create all kinds of barriers and complications in their lives. "Most of our shows have strong women protagonists and collectively they signify woman power. The idea of the concert came from the theme song we have created for Sony ('Udhna hai mujhe aasha ke laga ke par') which features all the protagonists of our shows," says Nina Jaipuria, Sony's vice-president, marketing and communications. Featuring over 30 actors – Pallavi Kulkarni, Neha Bamb, Deepa Parab, Saumya Tandon, Urvashi Dholakia, Aashka Goradia, Aroona Irani, Shama Sikander, Iqbal Khan, Manav Gohil, Sachin Sharma, Gagan Arya and so on, the Kudiya Bemisaal concert will open with a song from Taal featuring Sony's five leading ladies. Vasundhara Das has performed live a special segment called 'A tribute to womanhood' which includes hot new numbers from Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. Says Neha Bamb, Kripa of Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hai who has performed in both in the opening act as well as the 'the divas' segment, "It's nice to be part of the concert which is a celebration of womanhood and feminine power after all the hard work I have put in my role. It's a huge challenge for me." |
