THIS IS MY RES FOR THE UPDATE
She was drunk. Oh gosh.
What the hell happened last night? Well obviously nothing since her sari was on a hanger and she was dressed in her Mickey Mouse pajama pants.Or was that a sign?
Khushi sighed as she sat up in her bed and clutched her head. Why couldn't she remember anything clearly? She shut her eyes tightly and went through her fuzzy memories again.
"I thought you're a burglar." "You're drunk." "Let me take you to your room."
Khushi snapped her eyes open. What happened next? Hai Devi Maiya, I still feel like a virgin. Isn't that enough? Oh dear...
Of course this crime wasn't committed alone. He obviously had some part in this and was not drunk. Did he dress her in Mickey Mouse pajamas after his evil deed? Khushi gasped out loud, her mouth in an 'O' shape.
Stupid Humpty-IQ-dropping-half-naked-virginty-stealer-Dumpty! How dare he steal her virginity without asking her? Did that mean he raped her? Or what if she had went along with him in her messed up state? Devi Maiya, did I give him consent?!
Khushi shot out of her bed, ignoring the pain in her head, and walked to the door. Pulling it open, she stormed halfway to his door, before being pulled back into her room by a strong hand around her wrist.
"RAPE!!!" Khushi yelled as she felt herself being pulled into her room. Her back crashed into the wall and she squeezed her eyes shut. Was he back for more? Oh Devi Maiya, maybe she and him can come to some compromise, raced Khushi's thoughts.
"Khushi!" A familiar voice scolded. Realization dawned on her as she opened one eye and smiled sheepishly at the woman before her.
"Oh, hi Jiji." Khushi responded. Payal eyed Khushi skeptically before speaking.
"Khushi, why were you walking towards Arnav's room yelling 'RAPE'?" Payal whispered furiously. "These people are here to take you as their daughter-in-law! What if someone saw you? You're not 16 anymore, Khushi! Stop with the stupid jokes! Did NK dare you to do this?"
Khushi raised her eyebrows in thought. "NK?" Khushi suddenly remembered she had some crimes to commit this week.
Payal watched the strange expressions that played on her sister's face. "Khushi... Are you okay?"
No! I had my virginity stolen (I think) by the man across the hall and I demand some answers! "Of course, Jiji..." Khushi replied.
"Alright..." Payal didn't look convinced but she continued. "Wear something nice, something Indian! Amma and Babuji want you to meet his family properly. Wait till we get them settled in the back lawn for breakfast, and then come down. You're going to take the coffee to them." Payal giggled at the last sentence.
Khushi grimaced and smacked Payal on the arm before walking to her bathroom. Her parents were taking this shaadi business a bit too seriously. She didn't want to get married. She didn't want to meet his family. She didn't want to meet him! Oh wait-
She did want- no needed- to meet him. She had questions and she knew he had answers. Showering quickly, Khushi dressed in the first outfit she touched.
After dressing, Khushi examined herself in the mirror. The Churidar she had picked was navy blue which took on an almost purple-ish hue. Though the bottom of it was simple, but the top half was decked in gold overlay which mimicked a corset style top. It was simply and classy, maybe a bit too much for breakfast, but perfect for meeting the family. Khushi sighed happily at her reflection as she gathered her straight hair onto one shoulder and proceeded out the room.
---
"Please, please, act like you know what you're doing." Khushi's mom pleaded her.
Khushi huffed as she adjusted her dupatta and took hold of the tray of coffee. "I'll smile, say Namaste, and I won't spill the coffee. I promise." She will also request to speak to Hotty Dumpty alone so she could confirm the status of her virginity, she mentally promised herself.
Khushi's mom sighed and smiled in relief. "Alright you're ready."
Khushi reached the door leading to the back lawn of her house. Suddenly her stomach felt queasy and she felt nervous. Would they like her? What if they were really mean? Khushi had the vaguest memories of them from India and she had no idea what to expect. Khushi's stance faltered as she wished that Shah, NK, and Mads were with her. Calling out a silent prayer to Devi Maiya, Khushi exited the back room through the doors and into the sight of the Raizada family.
---
Arnav felt his face involuntarily brighten as he caught sight of Khushi walk across the lawn towards their table. The morning was a pleasant one, and the family had settled for breakfast out in the lawn. After answering endless questions from the Guptas, Arnav had finally gotten a chance to admire his setting. That's when he saw her, slowly walking towards the table with a coffee tray in her hands.
Arnav smirked as the memory of the same girl dressed in a bright red sari and holding a boning knife made its way into his mind. The contrast between the two was noticeable.
Anjali caught sight of Arnav smirking in the direction of the house and turned to look at the source of his fascination. Her breath caught as she saw Khushi walk towards the table. She was perfect. And she had managed to make her Chotte smile even before meeting him. Anjali's smile deepened as she stood to greet the girl.
"Khushi-ji?" Anjali asked, a wide smile on her face.
Khushi looked at the beautiful, angel-like woman that stood before her in an amazing sari. There was no way this was Dumpty's mother, was there? What kind of age defying cream did she use? No, there was no way... So who was she?
"Ji, Namaste..." Khushi looked at her mother for help, but quickly looked back at the woman. The sister! Of course! "Anjali-ji?"
The woman's smile widened. "Yes! We've been waiting so eagerly to meet you! Come on." Anjali moved over to make room for Khushi and Khushi froze.
Covered by Anjali's body was Dumpty, leaning back into a chair, dressed in a crisp white shirt and jeans. The moment Anjali moved, their eyes met and he gave her a smirk. Her coffee tray slightly shook and she quickly regained its balance. That stupid smirk! How dare he rob her of her V-Card and sit there like that. Maybe it was because she had given it to him, a little voice reminded her. Hai Devi Maiya!
"Khushi!" Payal whisper yelled. "Sit!"
Khushi's eyes widened as she realized she was standing at the table, having a serious eye lock session with her possible future husband, while the family was watching thinking it was their first meeting.
Oh shit. Khushi quickly looked down and placed the coffee tray on the table.
"I'm guessing you two like what you see, huh?" Anjali teased, and the entire table erupted in laughter. Khushi dropped her head in mortification and passed a look sideways at Dumpty, who annoyingly enough, looked very much unaffected and simply raised an eyebrow at Anjali's comment.
Khushi quickly found the oldest member of the family and took blessings. "Khushi bitiya, do you remember this Nani?" The elderly woman crooned stroking her cheek. Khushi shrugged, slightly guilty, but the elderly woman's smile held no disappointment.
Next was the woman who was desperately in need of a stylist and some make up remover. Turned out it was "Hello Hi Bye Bye, Manorama Mami" and then she met her son and husband. The family was very kind and very welcoming.
Of course, no formal introduction was given to her and Arnav, so they sat there- she awkwardly and he with an annoying amount of ease- and ate their food.
After about 40 minutes of conversation with everyone except Dumpty, Khushi felt her patience running out. She had to know if Dumpty had crossed the line last night. Or what if it was her? He was too quiet and she didn't like that. If her doubts were true then this marriage had to happen. Khushi stole a glance in Dumpty's direction. He was literally radiating hotness and oozing swag. She had to talk to him alone, but could she handle it? Forget losing her virginity (if she still had it), would she be able to hold on to it if she was alone in a room with him? Chanting sorrys to Devi Maiya for having vile thoughts, Khushi returned her attention to Anjali.
"Khushi, why don't you and Arnav take a walk?" Garima suddenly suggested. Nani smiled in agreement and Anjali's grinned in palpable glee.
"Uh... Sure..." Khushi smiled. Slowly, she trained her eyes on Dumpty, who was watching her intently. "Chaliye?" She asked rising out of the chair.
Arnav cocked his head in reply and stood, waiting her lead.
Khushi took a deep breath and led him away from the table toward the extent of the lawn. It was time for the moment of truth.
Did he do her last night or did she do him last night?
