A husband - wife relationship has many layers. There is loyalty, care, trust, friendship, transparency, love, and etc... However, before you can start to build upon these layers there has to be a sense of responsibility for that relationship. I believe RK has started to understand his obligations for Madhubala and their relationship. He understands that Madhubala is his responsibility. He knew safety of Madhubala is entirely upon him. He ensured that she was not hurt anymore. The first thing he did after getting out was take her to Padmini. That scene was depicted in a way as if he was trying to convince Padmini that your child is safe and sound and I know my duties. Progression is noticeable as you see them bond. In addition, you can see another layer being formed, which is care. From both perspectives, Madhubala and RK are building upon this feeling. It is evident that they do care for their well-being. From Madhu's standpoint that has already been shown when she saved him on the sets and this time it was RK's turn. Currently, the story is developing and hopefully the audience will get to see more of these layers form.
Special mention: the scene from yesterday's episode where he holds the sleeping Madhubala and lends his arm was quite intriguing to watch.
