"Among the several kinds of beauty, the eye takes most delight in colors"- Joseph Addison.
Colours. Without them the world around wouldnt be as beautiful. Without them, how can we enjoy the blueness of the sky, greenness of the grass, or the redness of the setting sun? Rishabala reminds of me of these colours that we see around us.
If I were to choose a colour that predominately represent this couple, I would choose red. Red is the colour of excitement, strength, aggression, danger, violence, all those things intense and passionate. Dont we see the same colour when they are locked in each others arms? When they dance? When they fight? Was the bonfire not symbolic of the relationship these two share? Today we had a healthy dose of red. It was red when Madhu calls him an animal and red was the colour when RK sees the newspaper. Is it not interesting that pink, a derivation of red, symbolises romance? Did the pinkish shade creep up today? Oh yes, it did.
Today RK shared some of his past with Madhu. Is it ironic that this man shared his so well-kept secret about his father's suicide to the woman whom he suspects made his childhood pictures public? No. For somewhere within/ between them, there lurks the colour blue. Blue represents trustworthiness, confidence, truth, stability, security. Is it then a wonder that Madhu ran to RK at the first sign of alarm? Inspite of all the skirmishes this couple has, the colour blue is never very far from them. Do you know whats interesting about blue? It is the only colour that maintains its own character in all its tones. From the darkest to the lightest- it will always stay blue. For all their enemity, they trust the other.
What I most love about this couple is that both of them is seldom angry at the same time. Today Madhu was the one who was angry, while RK was mild. A few days back RK was the violent one and Madhu the calm one. These two balance each other so well. Balance. Thats where the colour orange comes. This colour orange, with its positive and negative connotation, elicits a strong "love" and "hate" response in them.
Why is RK so possessive of his childhood memories? Today Madhu learned of his childhood, his father, his father's death. Slowly a new colour spread across them. Yellow. This colour brings clarity and awareness. With awareness, comes hope. Hope and optimism for their relationship. Yellow also shines with happiness. Can we expect to see some happiness in their relationship soon? Therein lies the snag. On one hand it denotes happiness and joy, but on the other hand yellow is the color of deceit and jealousy. Which shade will this colour be in future?
Today Rishabh (not RK) held Madhu safe in his arms while she was sleeping. Safety. Represented by green. When the two were sleeping, RK with his arms around Madhu and she with her head pillowed by his shoulders, was that sight not tranquil and refreshing? Tranquil and refreshing, thats colour green. Green is also the colour of nature. Ironically, nature was not tranquil today. But, would it be too much if I say that nature too was plotting to keep these two together?
Mr and Mrs. Rishabh Kundra. What makes this couple stand out? If I ask RK, he will say: They are Sher aur Sherni. King and queen. Royalty. Purple is the colour of royalty, power and wealth. Need I say anything more?
Can we see any white colour in their relationship? White implies peace, reverence, purity, humility, innocence. Do we see any of these in them? No? Look again. Today RK reminded Madhu of the four pheras they had taken. Marriage. Which colour represents marriage better than white? Though mockingly, RK does refer to her as his 'Biwi' and Madhu refers to him as 'Patidev'. Leave that aside. Will Madhu's and RK's attitude towards each other change after today? White. It is also a symbol of healing and fresh beginnings. After today can we expect a fresh beginning in their life?
While white reveals, black conceals. Leave aside the blackish side of black, this is the colour of the mysterious, the hidden, the unknown and the unseen. These two still doesnt know each other. Their hearts are still hidden from each other, yet to be unlocked. For each one, the other's heart is still a mystery, yet to be opened. How long will it be before this colour is subdued by others?
Rishabala. So many colours define them. Their life a celebration of these colours. Lets all toast to this couple!
PS.
Is it just a coincidence that this show appears in Colours TV?
Should I say: Rishabala- A Lesson in Colours/A Lesson on Colours?
