Smart choice? I think UTV didn't have any other choice. Both the films have experienced setback in the form of delays. First Barfi was delayed because of both Ranbir's and Priyanka's date problem. Then the release date was postponed twice because it was clashing with Cocktail and Joker. And why Heroine got delayed is known by every body. Too much of delaying would have killed the buzz for both the movie.

I don't think Priyanka would have been able to give dates for promotion if Barfi was released at later date due to launch of her music career. Same with Kareena Kapoor due to her wedding and her next release Talaash.

i agree with someone who said UTV never expected Barfi to did that well which its doing now...An 8 crore opening was unbelievable considering the promotions were hardly exciting and people would not turn up for a mute story...but it clicked...and now UTV will definitely suffer.

Actually we are giving too much credit to both these films. After RR UTV was hoping for another 100Cr hit from the Sonakshi-Akshay pair thru Joker. Hence they tried to give it clear date without any clashes with any film by a major star. In the process UTV ended up lining up Barfi and Heroine almost together. Ofcourse no one expected Joker to bomb so badly and Barfi to do better than it.

who said the didnt promoted brafi they did or what were ranbir pc n ilena doing in those realty shows n interviews some trips to some colleges the promotion was good but the promo that we saw tv were somehow boring

Yes it is a bad decision because obviously Heroine and Barfi will eat into each others collections..single screens doesn't matter since Barfi is not for the SS audiences hence the VERY limited release there but multiplex audiences might be confused.

I do think UTV is suprised by the PHENOMENAL response to Barfi (*touchwood*)...I don't think they expected it. To be honest, even I'd only hoped for it but not expected it..I always did get the feeling that they thought Heorine was their money spinner. Hence the wide release for Heorine and the limited one for Barfi.

It depends on the response to Heroine. If Heroine is a good film, then Barfi's collections will be dampened..though it has enough going for it to still do well (and I really hope it does! Beautiful movies deserve to do well)..If Heroine is bad, well it will lose steam...and will be hit by Barfi's positive response.

Heroine the promos to me looked just like another kind of " THE DIRTY PICTURE"
Barfi is for a select urban metro audience. Its sets one thinking.Heroine is a mass produced mass film with everything in it.

Both the movies are very different from each other so they will run no matter where they play.

i was thinking the same thing...WTH were they thinking?? Now both the movies are going to suffer...especially Heroine...cause Barfi has gotten a tremendous WOM response...enough to make an undecided viewer to choose watching Barfi over Heroine...Unless and until Heroine has the same kind of WOM response as Barfi...its going to suffer...
