Part -1
Shiv could not concentrate on his work. Everything had gone south in such a short time. A few days ago it seemed like Anandi was happy with their relationship and had finally started opening up to him and seemed ready to make this work. Lately, Anandi seemed to be moving away from him ever since Jagya came back. He knew she was confused and he wondered if she wanted to go back to Jagya. He loved her so much but if she thought that scumbag could keep her happy, he would step away. But nothing made any sense anymore. He was so tired of thinking. He put his head down for a few minutes and closed his eyes.
"Sir Sir daadima" Bheem Singh came barreling into Shiv's office. Shiv lifted his head and said "Kya hua Bheem Singh (what happened Bheem Singh?) Bheem Singh was really flustered and he said "Sir I just met one of the panchs and he told me that daadisa had a heart attack. She had been taken to the hospital. " Shiv dropped everything and ran, with Bheem Singh following him.
Shiv arrived at the hospital and he could see a worried Basant, Bhairon and Gehna with Anandi crying in Gehna arms repeating over and over again "Yeh sab mere wajah se hua (All this happened because of me.) At one corner far away from all of them stood Jagya. Shiv knew he had returned and now wondered what had happened to trigger this. Shiv was left wondering because Lal Singh came in and announced that the patient had been stabilized, but she was still critical and they would not be able to say anything for 48 hours. Everyone heaved a sigh of relief, but were clearly worried. Anandi was still upset but Shiv was happy to see she had stopped crying. They all went to see Daadisa from outside the glass and it ripped Shiv's heart to see her lying there all helpless and surrounded by wires. She was breathing heavily. They were keeping her sedated because they did not want her to wake up yet. They believed that some stress had brought this on and that to get better she had to give up stressing.
Lal Singh turned to leave and walked away towards his office. He was deep in thought. He thought Jagya was reformed and genuinely wanted to help him but never in his wildest dreams did he expect that Jagya return would give daadisa a heart attack and almost kill her. He could not figure out why she kept mumbling about Anandi leaving. She was the one who got Anandi engaged to Shiv. All the time when they were working on her she kept mumbling "Jagya kyun aayo tu waapas. Anandi humein chod ke math jaa. Chori maaf kar de mane" over and over again (Jagya why did you come back. Anandi don't leave us. Chori please forgive me) and for a while it looked like she would not make it. He then decided to sedate her and it was only then they managed to save her but she was not out of the woods yet. The next 48 hours would be critical and Lal Singh did not want to lose her. He respected her tremendously and she was like his own grandmother.
He decided to see if one of the senior doctors he knew from Jaipur, who was a cardiologist could come for a quick consult. But Lal Singh knew he was a very busy man and it would be hard to get him but only he could guide him because this case was complicated. He would try and the rest would be up to god. Taking a deep breath he made the call only to be told that the doctor was on vacation and would not return for another 3 days. He decided to call his other friend in Bombay, Rajeev, who was a cardiologist and he managed to reach Rajeev's wife to be told that Rajeev was out of the country. Lal Singh was desperate and asked her if she knew any colleagues of her husband that he could call. She thought for a while and gave him a number. When Lal Singh asked her what the name of the doctor was she replied Dr. Gauri at SNG. Lal Singh thanked her and put the phone down and laughed. Him calling Gauri was like signing the death warrant for daadisa. He might as well disconnect all the machines now. Lal Singh was shattered and was examining his options when he heard someone calling his name and saw Jagya walking towards him.
Jagya told him that he wanted to treat Daadisa and that he could help. Lal Singh told him no way. Jagya would not back down and told Lal Singh that he was more qualified than him, considering he had a MS degree and Daadisa was his family. So he would treat her. Lal Singh was ticked off now and turned around and told him that he expected him to have more common sense than that. He told him that daadisa is not happy about his return and that was one of the triggers of her attack. Jagya argued that daadisa and the other family members need never know about this but Lal Singh would not back down. Lal Singh told him that no matter what he was not letting him treat daadisa.
Jagya was mad now and told Lal Singh to remember that he was more qualified than him and also because the last time daadisa had a heart attack, he had taken care of her. Before Lal Singh could respond, someone grabbed Jagya and slapped him several times. Lal Singh stood back and watched as any angry Bhairon confronted Jagya telling him "Kya keh raha tha tu? Tumhari itni himmat? Pichli baar tune maasa ki dekhbal kit hi? Bhool gaye ho toh yaad dila doon unhe heart attack hi teri harkaton ki wajah se aayi thi. Iss ilye ki tune na hi uss ladki se shaadi ki lekin besharmon ki tarah use ghar bhi laaye the. Aur iss baar bhi ye saara tamasha teri aane ke wajah se hua hai jiske wajah se maasa ka yeh haal hai. Aur kitna girega tu? Kitna dard diya hai tune unhe. Lagta hai unki jaan lene ki taan ki hai tune. " (What are you saying? How dare you? You had taken care of her the previous time. If you have forgotten let me remind you that she had a heart attack because of your shenanigans because you not only married that girl but was shameless enough to bring her home. And this time your came home and all this drama happened and that is the cause of this condition. How much more of a low will you sink to? You have given us so much pain. Looks like you will rest only after you kill her).
Anandi came running and attempted to take Bhairon away saying "Aap please tension mat li jiye. Please aap ka blood pressure badd jaayega toh maasa ka kaun dhyan rakhega. Please baapusa shaanth ho jaayiye. Agar aap ko bhi kuch ho gaya toh bardash nahin kar paaongi main" (Please do not stress yourself. Your blood pressure will rise and then who will take care of maasa. Please baapusa calm down. If something happens to you I cannot bear it.) As she took Bhairon away Jagya tried to come in front of her and block their way saying "Anandi tum toh samajdhar ho tum please inhe samjhao ki mujhe daadisa ki treatment kar ne de" (Anandi you are intelligent, please explain to these people that they need to let me treat daadisa). This time Basant grabbed Jagya by the collar and told him "Tujh se ilaaj karvane se pehle maasa maut ko gale laga lege. Gaadi mein unhone ne humse kaha tha unhe yahan laathe waqat Jagdish ko mujhe haath math lagane dena. Mhari jaan bhi chali jaavegi tab bhi. Kyunki mujhe uska koi upkar nahin chahiye. Maasa hi nahin chahthi ki unki ilaaj kare. Lekin tujhe kya farak padtha hai kyunki tujhe toh unki parva hi nahin hai, na unki na hamare parivaar mein kisi aur ki kya parva hogi (Maasa would prefer to die rather than be treated by you. She told us in the vehicle when we were bringing her here ' Jagdish should not touch me. Even if I die it is ok but I do not want to be in his debt. Maasa herself did not want you to treat her. But what do you care, and when you don't care for her why would you care for any of us?)
But Jagya did not back down and tried once again to talk to Anandi. This time when Basant raised his hand to hit him Anandi intervened and told Basant "Tausa nahin. Chaliye yahan se" (Tausa no. Lets go from here.) Shiv noticed that Anandi did not even look at Jagya and turned her face away whenever he tried to talk to her. Things did not add up. If it was not for Jagya, why was Anandi behaving strangely with him? As Bhairon, Basant and Anandi came towards him Shiv resolved to get to the bottom of whatever happened. He got a phone call he had been waiting for and moved away. After taking the call Shiv went to find Lal Singh and told him that his best friend from school was a leading cardiologist in Jaipur and Shiv had called him asking if he could come down for a consult. He had agreed and would arrive in a few hours along with his father, who was also a cardiologist. Shiv explained that they were family friends and had planned to visit to meet Anandi anyways since they could not make it for the engagement on short notice. So they were just coming earlier. Lal Singh heaved a sigh of relief that his prayers had been answered and someone was coming who was better equipped to deal with this than him. Now he just had to keep daadisa stable until they got here.
When Shiv returned Anandi was missing and on enquiring he was told she went to the temple. Shiv noticed that Jagya was missing too and felt uneasy. It was clear to him that Anandi did not want to engage with Jagya and Jagya was determined to talk to her. This did not bode well knowing Jagya's propensity for violence. Shiv did not want to alarm the others so he quickly said his goodbyes and left. Once he was out of their line of vision, he ran for his jeep and took off in the direction of the temple.
