@the lady cop's comment being inappropriate: It actually is entirely appropriate. Note that the lady cop didn't say a wife, but your wife. It's clearly a dig at the way he treated his own wife, and his own beliefs about how a husband and wife should be treated. She's clearly telling him that she's made of sterner stuff and possibly dealt with worse criminals, so he can't treat her the way he treated Jhanvi and expect to be let off as easily. It's a dig he deserved.
Agreed. But, inadvertently, the dig ended up insulting Jahnavi* more than Viraj. I guess this is an accepted way of taking a dig at someone, but I'm uncomfortable with this reference. Purely, my P.O.V.
*like I'm made of sterner stuff than your wife. I think there're other ways to shut Viraj up, without referring to Jahnavi's weakness.
Also, for the female cop's information Viraj spoke in a demeaning fashion with everyone not just his wife, unless of course Viraj was being polite and "sweet" to people like Mrs. Singh etc..
