Dance show gets foreign investment

Choreographers and dancers from international dance shows to feature in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa; to dance to Bollywood numbers👏

With six celebrities battling it out on dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (JDJ), the competition is heating up. To make things even hotter, international dancers from TV shows like Dancing With The Stars (DWTS) and So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD) will now enter Jhalak. Next week, the choreographers from these international shows will groom the contestants and prepare them for the finale.

Internation al dancers on Jhalak

Judge Remo D'Souza is very excited about this new addition. "This is the first time an Indian TV show will have international dancers, so I am thrilled to see how it goes. Though the choreographers we have on the show are brilliant, these dancers will add something more to the acts. They are renowned dancers who have been trained in international dance forms. It might be tough for the contestants as they will need to match steps with them, but it will be a great opportunity. The competition will go to a higher level."

The six dancers — Anya Fuchs, Jaymz Tuaileva, Emma Slater, Sasha Farber, Iveta Lukosiute and Brent Borbon — will be introduced on Jhalak this weekend with a group performance to the song 'Jhoom barabar jhoom'. An insider says, "We've heard that all of them are fascinated with Bollywood. They are gearing up to rock the stage with their dance moves to Indian numbers."

About the international guests, judge Madhuri Dixit says, "They will bring a spark and energy to the show. It will be interesting to see how the contestants work with them."

Remo says that though he is expecting something outof-the-box, he has concerns as well. "I'm concerned about the music. They are used to dancing to a different kind of music, while here we use Bollywood songs," he says.

I will be especially looking at the coordination and incorporation of the International choreographers ideas/suggestions/advice into each remaining contestants dance performance - especially the posture if doing any of the Ballroom dances like Foxtrot, Waltz, Samba etc

agree with Remo here, I wonder if the contests/choreographers would have to translate the lyrics to English (Like Punit did with Shibani)...
