I don't think so...because I just went to two weddings recently and they are traditional South Indian people and they didn't do that. Maybe things have changed?

In Punjabi Weddings, ( In Olden days though), Mamu used to pick the girl and put her in DOLI but not any more. Now a days, brothers walk with the bride and push the 'DOLI LIMO' to her Sasuraal.
North or South, East or West, no tradition has changed so much that wife started sitting in Hubby's lap IN PUBLIC. 😆

I caught a glimpse of it yesterday.....but didn't see it as i was watching JLH. 😳 😳 😳

Actually we do.I have to sit on My dad's lap when I get married.😆Though i told my dad i just want a court marriage cause i get bored in these long traditianl tamil marriages.My dad wasnt pleased.😆
