Thank you so much for writing this for me. Feel nice reading it as I was so bugged after what I saw that I was at a loss for writing anything.
BTW, it was me who said Anup looked like a gaay. But that was me commenting about him watching him for less than 2 mins in the ladi-dekhna ceremony. Obviously I was wrong as I have complete different opinion after watching him in atleast 2 episodes now. His interaction with Mansi at their house and talking about Shail's issue is what made me sit up and take notice. Then came his scenes with his mother and Foofha. I can see that this character is complex as it has various shades and the actor fits all the shades very well.
Totally bored of Arjun repeating for the 3rd time (or is it the 4th) now that Purvi came and changed him life for good.
Instead of showing them in different "get-up"s, they should have made them sit somewhere and talk about their future. That whole scene of pani-puri, kulfi and the various couple phases lacked substance.
I had the same thought when Purvi squealed for Arjun to stop the car when the pani-puri thela was ahead of them still by several feets after Arjun stopping the car.

@red. I will provide the adjective. It was ludicrous. Especially the old Parsi couple, where they had not taken the least pains to age them even a bit, and the 'old' lady had black bangs that she kept pushing out of her eyes.
The roadside food scenes are all copies of old scenes between Manav and Archana, but they belonged in that milieu. Moreover, the way Purvi shrieked at Arjun to stop for the pani puri stall (which was still ahead of them though he had taken at least 20 metres to stop; Purvi must have excellent distance vision!) , and the way she seemed to be coaxing Arjun to take her there, were both so affected. Like the heroines of the 1960s and 70s.
Lastly, Arjun's You are the best thing that even happened to me and but for you I would never have met the New Arjun, have been repeated so often that I have lost count. I think that he must have mugged up the page from the dialogue sheet for one of their earlier scenes together!
Finally, we know that doom lies ahead, but he does not. Why then does he go on asking her to promise that she will never leave him? It is significant that she never has any similar doubts about him, and no wonder. She knows that he is a prize joru ka ghulam, and that as I had remarked in my Dark Clouds Gathering post, she has him on a leash like a tame puppy.
