It was a complete glamour and glitz turnout from the television and film industry for the annual jewellery show

India International Jewellery Week 2012 opened yesterday (August 19) with much fanfare. Inaugurated by Sonam Kapoor and Hema Malini, the program began with a showing of the Grand Envi and Nizam Collections by Gitanjali in association with GR8 for the BETI show.

The crme de la crme of the TV industry and film personalities walked the ramp to support the fight against female foeticide, acid attacks and women's illiteracy, and to help acid attack victim Sonali Mukherjee.

Real life couples Vivian DSena and Vahbhiz, Samir Soni and Neelam, Rashmi Desai and Nandish Sandhu, Sonu Nigam and Madhurima, and Rohit and Maanasi Roy walked the ramp hand in hand, while Narayani Shastri, Soumya Seth, Priyanka Bassi, Sayali Bhagat, Tusshar Kapoor, Raima Sen, Zayed Khan, Jay Soni, Ishita Sharma and Mauli Ganguly took to the stage with their co-stars. Vivek Oberoi and Sayali Bhagat accompanied their mothers, while Jai Kalra graced the stage with his three-year-old daughter Anya in tow….awww, how cute!

Everyone was dressed in beautiful Indian outfits by Vikram Phadnis, Swapnil Shinde, Barkha and Sonzal, Mohini and Neeta Lulla – and the clothes matched perfectly with the timeless emerald pieces, the traditional Indian jewellery styles such as rose cut diamonds, kundan work, enamel and Victorian pieces, and watches from Gitanjali.

The showstopper was the melodious Sonu Nigam, who sang a tribute to the BETI show.
