Hope everyone had a great weekend. Here I am again with a short review of Saturday's developments.
Opening scene with a conflicted Abhimanyu Thakur meeting superdad Bauji for advice. Let me first comment on how hot he looked wearing in a white shirt, white pants and black blazer. I knew Abhimanyu would have problems with this, which is why SS extracted a promise that he would have to keep unconditionally. SS compromised his name by accepting the man as his son, now the son has to prove that he is worth it by compromising his own morals. SS did try to hire an expensive lawyer to defend Guruma, but of course they wouldn't accept it. Now he's got to go all out and get the BEST lawyer, one who can handle even Pratigya Singh Thakur. And if his own son wins the case, noone can question his reputation or his loyalty. This is even more important than pleasing Guruma however, it's the almighty election and he's never won. So let's forget about the fact that he alienated the entire house by accepting his illegitimate son, now he has to win at any cost. If it means sacrificing Krishna and his wife on the altar of political power, SS is not above making it happen. I love how calm and collected SS was throughout the whole chat, as if it's just "business as usual." And he very neatly laid the blame on Pratigya's doorstep. What happened to Sarju and the fact that he was a scumbag? He said all the right things to Abhimanyu and they hit their mark.
This is one of my favorite scenes in the whole episode. Krishna goes up to SS while he's devotedly feeding the dogs at night and they are all wagging their tails around him when the son berates the father for his actions. While I realize the dogs' real purpose in this scene, I loved them being there because we almost never see anything like this. The best scene I can recall is when Prats picks up a puppy, puts it down later and then Krishna picks up the same dog and talks to it. Whether it's the once-illegitimate son coming to SS for advice or the once-favorite son coming to yell at him, he never shows any tension. The guy's a master manipulator. The way he says Prats left the house, stubbornly chose to defend her sister instead of the family it was so funny. Prats did not leave the house, he gave her an ultimatum which forced her. And what did SS expect that Prats is going to let her college-educated sister rot in jail for a crime she isn't guilty of? SS would make a perfect witness because he never panics. He didn't even bother getting mad at Krishna because there is no point. Why? Because it would look like he is defensive which he isn't. He's right when right and right when wrong. Welcome to Thakur world.
The scene at the Saxena crib where Arushi locks herself in her room and everyone comes knocking, I felt like people were overreacting. I mean, let the girl cry, she had a bad day at court. Even if your sister is the BEST lawyer in town, is it not going to feel degrading when an equally good lawyer paints you in a bad and disgusting light? We're talking about someone from a middle-class background who has never even showed more than her bare arms in a choli and doesn't wear any more face paint than a modern college-age girl. Plus we all know, being married to a criminal doesn't make one into one. It just means she made a bad decision. Of course, Pratigya had the best lines when she told Arushi that it's wrong to harm oneself and make it seem as if the liar is telling truth and then the honest person will be condemned as dishonest with her actions. Taken straight from the Gita, for those of you who haven't read it. I can't pass by this scene without my heart melting because Baba is about the break down the door when Arushi opens it. We're talking about a guy who once stalked Prats and pursued her with his every breath and now he's ready to do anything to save his SIL. Well done, Krish.
The court session where Shakti testifies against his ex-wife was pathetic, so much so that it was hilarious. Because of the fact that Pratigya tore his every statement apart, and along with it Abhimanyu's argument. As for calling the Professor to the witness stand, that was just drawing straws. If Shakti's word was all it took, he wouldn't have done it. Does the Professor remotely look like a man who would raise a girl of low morals? Not to mention yeah, people in India survive on what the Professor earns and less than that. So the entire court's proceedings were a bloody waste. I thoroughly enjoyed the expression on Shakti's face after Pratigya cross-questioned him, it was the only real joy one would get from that scene. Plus, Abhimanyu is a seasoned lawyer, Pratigya has only done a few cases so it looks strong for her but not so sure on his side.
The Professor's falling ill after the court session was just sad. While it's true he knows Prats is a good lawyer, I guess it's his nature to be scared sometimes. He knows how ruthless people can be, after all one SIL is in jail for killing his only son and the other one is roaming free and lying on witness stands.
This is just the best, when Krishna storms the Niwas and throws down the cell into which Shakti was talking. I just wondered, where is the Krishna Krishna music? Why didn't they put it in? Or was the scene too short? When he confronts his brother, I was like so proud of him I wanted to give him a medal for the Best BIL or something. Shakti just played it cool and tried to bait him which made him more upset, almost throwing a chair at him. It is just me or did Krish look hot doing that? Shakti is a good couple of inches taller than him, but that didn't keep him from getting scared when the guy almost kicked his behind in front of everyone. You can't blame the prince, I mean his wife saved the entire room of people apart from Samar from going to jail and the same people are ignoring him. When Krish throws the chair on the ground instead of breaking Shakti's head with it because Samar is there, it was a mark of true decency. Because we all know if it was Shakti, nothing would stop him. Shakti should thank Samar for his brilliant timing because if it wasnt for him, he would need to be rushed to the ER no question. Shakti tries to smile in front of his son as if everything is ok, but when Kesar tells him to answer Samar's question as usual he is clueless.
Last scene where Arushi is framed for solicitation, total joke. First of all, did I mention to the cvs that whenever there is a shirtless scene, that is only for men who are in shape and look HOT with less clothing. It's not for flabby people who don't know how to do pushups and lure innocent girls into their homes for a few rupees. I had to hide my eyes during this scene not because of the material, but because of the guy's disgusting upper body which looks like a before picture of the TummyFit slimming oil advertisement. I didn't buy how gullible the policeman was in taking the guy's side and only choosing to take Arushi into custody. Technically speaking, if the site of the crime was his own house then why did he get off? It was just A FEW EPISODES BACK that the entire Thakur clan was taken to jail and blamed for something worse because a guy shot himself on their property. If he's going to blame anyone, then he should have taken them both in for questioning and not just Arushi. Saxenas need to file a case against the PD. I mean please, did the police catch the two of them on his sofa or bed making out? did they see any glasses of wine or anything indicating what the guy said was true besides a stack of bills in Arushi's purse? Arushi was in the kitchen for goodness' sake, where I believe most women go to make food and drink. Someone conveniently calls the police, and Prats conveniently also arrives on the scene as does Karthik. Prats is her usual assertive self, but I have to hand it to Karthik, the guy is doing his best to prove himself a worthy Saxena not to mention amazing human being. People lost no time in insulting Arushi's entire family for no reason and Karthik showed them all. (He's no Baba, but the man is really nice and Chinky likes him which shows he's worthy of trust.)
I like the gray shades of character Abhimanyu has shown throughout the track, as well as the fact that yes, he isn't Shakti that ruins women without hesitation. Of course, much of the episode was brilliant because of Krishna and his confrontations.
Star of the episode: Krishna Singh Thakur, Pratigya Singh Thakur, SS.
