It is Anjali and Shyam's third wedding anniversary. Preparations are going on for the grand party thrown by the fond brother Arnav for his sister and brother-in-law.
Khushi and Payal enter with the mitthai for the party. Arnav is in the hall terrorizing the workers into their best efforts.
As usual, the gust of wind blows and Khushi and Arnav feel each other's presence. By now, they have developed the uncanny ability to attribute the weird feeling to the presence of the other in their vicinity.
He hears the tinkling of her anklets. She hears his irate voice. While he tries to calm himself by saying she can't be hear as she has gone to Lucknow, she is hell-bent on avoiding him. He doesn't want to get his hopes up, that perhaps, just perhaps he hadn't driven her away; she just may have stayed back. She is hoping with all her might that she doesn't end up in front of him.
Thus begins a game of hide n' seek.
First, it is the curtains. Then it is in Anjali's room.
She gets lost on the way to the store-room. She sees him walking down the corridor and flees. Trust Khushi Kumari Gupta to end up in hotter water than she is supposed to be in. she flees from him and hides in his own room. She looked adorable trying to hide in there. Finally she settles in his wardrobe.
He comes in. Opens the wardrobe; narrowly misses seeing her and is turns his back. Khushi in her effort to be helpful had actually handed him his clothes. He stops. Wait! Something isn't right; but he shrugs it off. He is about to leave once more, when Khushi, the Clumsy Clown gives herself away.
Arnav walks back and opens the wardrobeā¦
There she isā¦ the turbulence of his sleepā¦ the bane of his existenceā¦ the thorn in his fleshā¦ the girl of his dreamsā¦
She has shut her eyes, covered her face as if she believes that by not seeing him herself, he may not see her either.
Arnav is shocked; he knows not what to think. He just gazes at her- mesmerized? Relieved? Glad? He didn't know. But he knew he was definitely confused. She jumps out of the wardrobe and tries to run. He tries to hold her back, but she doesn't stay. Who could catch the wind that is Khushi Kumari Gupta? She eludes his graspā¦
Nani meets Payal. Anjali introduces her as Khushi's sister. Akash is happy to see Payal there. Mami is not too pleased.
Arnav questions Anjali about Khushi's presence in the house. He has recovered himself now. He is all animosity towards Khushi once more. He hadn't lost her after all.
The party is in full swing. On the one hand Khushi is trying to get a glimpse of Anjali's husband; on the other, Arnav is following her with his eyes.
Khushi goes out to the poolside to fetch tissues.
Arnav, ever on the lookout, follows her there. He startles her saying,
"What are you doing here? You said you are going back to Lucknow."
She tries to avoid him; he pulls her back.
She tries to free herself. He is not willing to let goā¦
"Aap badtameezi kar rahe hai."
"Kyunki badtameezi ke alava aur koi bhaasha tumhein samajh nahi aati. Main tumse kuch pooch raha hoon."
He insists on an answer. She gives him oneā¦
"Majboori thi, tab bhi, aur ab bhiā¦"
He doesn't take his eyes off her face. He keeps staring at her. She is avoiding looking at him; trying to free herself from his firm gripā¦
"Aap humara haath chhodiye, varnaā¦"
Ooh! A challenge! And Arnav Singh Raizada pouncesā¦
"Varna? Varna kya kar logi tum?"
"Aap Arnav Singh Raizada honge aapke ghar meinā¦"
"Mera hi ghar hai."
(Insouciance, thy name is Arnav Singh Raizada!)
She is stumpedā¦ but only for a minute. Khushi Kumari Gupta bounces back; and he watches in reluctant admiration.
She tells him that if she hadn't spent all that money, she would never have come to his house.
That doesn't sit well with him. How dare she say she doesn't want to be around him, when he himself wants her near? He does what he does best. He insults her once moreā¦
ā¦ the likes of you worked for people like me before and still doā¦ where money is involved the likes of you can doā¦
But he doesn't complete the sentence. Lavanya interrupts. Khushi frees herself from Arnav's hold and steps back. Lavanya sees Khushi and is not too pleased. Khushi leaves the place, watched by Arnav.
Her payal falls off which Arnav notices. Lavanya drags him away, but he keeps looking at her Payalā¦ on the groundā¦ by the poolside.
