so all set for Arshi wedding
I swear m tooo excited
i know many of the forum members
r not aware of the rasams n vidhis
of an indian wedding . So I decided to make a post stating how an indian wedding proceeds with all the rasams n reewaz.I'll try to write everything I can here.In case i miss something or u have any query u are most welcome to ask me!!
ROKA
The very first rasam in an Indian wedding is the Roka. Roka officially means "to stop" .The bride's brother puts a teeka on groom's forhead in this ceremony.Then he's given some gifts by the girls' family and is officialy stamped foor the wedding.Once over wih the groom, the girl is called in the ceremony.She is given a red chunri by the groom's mother n sisters alongwith some jewellary n gifts.
ENGAGEMENT
Once over with the roka ceremony. the next ritual is the engagement where rings are exchanged between the bride n the groom
SHAGUN
shagun is generally held a day or two before the actual wedding.herein the bride's family goes to the grooms house with gifts n all.in return the grooms family also gives gifts to brides family!!!
SANGEET
sangeet as we all know is a party wherein people dance n enjoy!!
MEHANDI KI RAAT
mehandi ki raat is also celebrated these days.All the girls gather in the brides house wherein mehandi is put on her hands.Its a trend to get the grooms name hidden in the mehandi which the groom looks for in the girls hand on the wedding night😉
WEDDING DAY
on the wedding day , early in the morning the girl n one of her unmarried frd is made to sit on a mat on the floor.the mother of the bride then gives some sweets n shagun to the girl.its an emotional rasam.
the bride is delibrately made to wear old clothes.It is believed that wen she gets ready after that ...to dulhan ko roop chadta hai!!!means she looks more beautiful.
CHOODA CEREMONY
on the wedding day itself the mama of the girl[her mom's brother] brings chooda [ a set o red n white bangles] for the girl.Its fst washed in milk n then the girl is made to wear it.
HALDI
haldi ceremony is done on the same day.they say by putting turmeric pack, the skin of both the bride n the groom will glow!!
GHARAULI
after haldi is another rasam which is done in punjabi families.the sisters of the bride n groom take fill a pot of water from a temple n the bride / groom r made to take bath from that water.its called ghadoli bharna.
once both take bath in the evening [ at their respective places ofcourse] , they get ready to meet each other . the groom then takes the baaraat to the brides house.
