I am not a professional cook nor do I cook all the time.

But from the ingredients that Suraj got, I think you could make a fruit salad...Indian style? Maybe it's just Gujarati style...

I haven't seen what type of fruits he got since I haven't watched the episode yet and only read the written update (thanks for the WU)...but I think almost any fruits would work.

Indian/Gujarati Fruit Salad has milk, sugar, fruits (of course!)...and I think people make use flour to thicken it...

This type of fruit salad has fruits that are cut and served with sweet thickened milk or custard.

I'm probably completely wrong...

Yes he could make the fruit salad as besides the unknown fruit he has got milk, brown sugar and plain flour as ingredients...

I was also wondering why he was aiming for Dal as that would not go with the rest of his ingredients... but he probably does not know much about western style desserts...

Yeah...It would have been very bad if he had gotten the dal...thank goodness for Maithi! lol

Oh and I just watched the fruit part. Do you or anyone else know what type of fruits he got? I couldn't tell...I think there may have been kiwi may have been one of them.

That is very delicious, but he didn't get the dal.

I just saw the episode...and he didn't exactly get milk...he got cream which is thicker! It's perfect for a fruit custard. His dish should be incredibly delicious and easier.

What is Maithi going to make from peppers, mushrooms, baby corn, and cheese??

When she had the cheese, peppers, and mushrooms from the first round...I thought she could make something Italian...all she needed what some type of pasta or meat. But the baby corn really threw me off. lol

Brandon has coconut powder, mustard seeds, noodles, bread, and I can't tell what the last one is...maybe veggies?

I think he could make something oriental...

Why was their no meat? That was a little odd.

When he got fruits and sugar all I could think about is fruit salad... Because those fruits were different. In halwa we need dry and sweet fruits I guess.. But we can make fruit salad with almost all kinds of fruits. I dont know what Suraj was gonna to plan with dal and fruits. I also think he is lucky that he got cream by Mathi's help...

Remember he got flour and brown sugar. What he should make is a fruit pie or fruit crumb! But I doubt that he knows how to so he should go for either something fried using flour batter or halwa.

For a final round of a world's top cooking competition, wouldnt fruit salad or custard be a bit simple? Maybe there will be other basic ingredients like salt, pepper, flour, etc available to everyone.. Most dishes would need atleast salt as an extra right?

I think it's good our sweetmaker got dessert ingredients...he will think laterally to make something stunning i hope, or maybe this final round has multiple sections... Since we all know the end result ie suraj wins, it's good that we'll be sirprised by a recipe at least!šŸ˜†

Well...he did say he was going to make a different kind of dal baati. LOL!

Yeah...Mathi definitely ended up helping him out.

and yes...you're right...I think halwa would require dry fruits instead of the fruits he was given. BUT he could make a different and interesting kind of halwa. I

I'm pretty sure it's going to be something sweet...well obviously! LOL since he did get brown sugar! šŸ˜‰

Hmmm. A fruit pie would definitely be interesting. Like apple pies. But I wonder how it would taste with the fruits he has. What kind of fruits does he have?
