Months on end we complained how can 2 people live together and not do the deed...đ Today, the CV's were telling us to back off....ASR is just as human....From that perspective it made perfect sense...
But why the rush? A guy who had several months but didn't act on it; a girl who had roots firmly set in her traditional values never remembered pheras completed a marriage. Well, there is a reason for that too....A typical M&B drama only pleases a section of the viewers; issue based drama brings in a major chunk of the mature audience. It is a game of numbers. Tonight's episode raised interesting questions; it is a clash of ideologies. A conversation at every dinner table in a traditional Indian home with sons and daughters of marriageable age.....
He never believed in traditions or the institution of marriage but he has wholeheartedly accepted her as his wife. A man who never thought he would fall in love; today admitted he loves her, truly, deeply...He had a valid question? Doesn't that account for anything?
Khushi on the other hand believes in marriage, her dream was to marry her prince with all pomp and blessings from her elders. She met her prince alright but he doesn't believe in her dreams of a traditional wedding. Should she accept him for who he is and not press for marriage or should she stick to her guns? Is she asking for too much?
Both Stealing glances...
Janmastami scene starts off beautifully; dadi has decided to call a truce at nani's insistence for now. Khushi was clearly not given the status of badi bahu even though the rest of the Raizada's have accepted her. She is visibly missing in the front row....
But what was beautiful was a man who created a commotion last time just to show up for the puja was now standing with his Radharani.....He was going to give her the rightful place in his home, in his heart....Today was that day.....He was eying his beautiful bride who was clearly upset over his pranks.....
The puja ended with the blessings from the elders; a happy nani blesses them and says she would love to see her grand kids.....Natkhat Arnav doesn't miss an opening; he taps into his wife's weakness - listen to your elders advice, much to Khushi's annoyance.....He is ready to work on it right away.....He asks her to follow him but she isn't taking the bait...
He has finally realized it is the right time to take the relationship to the next level, make her his wife in the truest sense, mind, body & soul....When Khushi ignores him yet again he loses his temper and demands she come with him now, much to her chagrin....
What was telling here is, he loves her but doesn't know how to express itđł He does it his way, the ASR way....He demands....The girl is clueless at this change of mode and she fails to understand what he really wants...She has yet to understand this side of him....He wants to show her how much he loves her but she isn't ready yet...She is stuck in the one thing she heard, their marriage is incomplete without the pheras....She doesn't see the love in his eyes....
In true ASR style, he demands she wear the lehenga.....no arguments....A shy Khushi hides behind the closet, she hasn't worn a revealing dress like this one before....She needs her dupatta...But the natkhat Kahnaiya has stolen the dupatta...
I loved this one, when he gently guides her to the center of the room...she doesn't have to be shy, he is her husband...
He couldn't take his eyes off her...He then ever so gently drapes the dupatta over her head.
The last time the chunari was La's but accidentally fell on her head but this time he claimed her as his wife and ever so gently hugged her....Khushi torn between her love for him and her belief system couldn't help but hug him...She was overcome by love briefly letting her heart rule....He gently picks her up...
The Radhakrishna idol serves as a gentle reminder....She refuses to accept his love with Payal and nani's voices resonating in her head....Arnav is a gentleman and grants her wish.... But her reasoning goes on deaf ears. He isn't buying it....For him, love triumphs all...Feelings matter not the rituals....
But he gives in to her wishes and drags her up the terrace....And carries around the agni with dadi a mute spectator and Khushi blurting out the importance of marriage...
The beautiful thing about this scene was when he doesn't let her get off as they notice dadi watching....He stands tall unperturbed by dadi's presence or her disapproval...Yes, he is proud she is his wife....He is willing to say to the world, he is in love. This is his house, she is his wife...the world be damned... He is not ashamed to admit his love. A disappointed dadi walks away....
Khushi seemingly upset challenges him.... Riti riwaz ka koyi mutlab nahi, shaadi ki vidhi ka koyi mutlab nahi. Tho kis cheese ka mutlab hai? She is the typical girl who is worried about the society....Time again she has been rebuked when it wasn't her fault just because she was a girl...She was the voice of reason but he didn't want to hear it.... He screams - That I love you dammit...
A seemingly upset Arnav doesn't know how else to explain to her...He does it the ASR way! She is stunned by the admission....What she thought was a game for him was really about love....He wanted to give her the status she yearned for....Aapne humhe kabhi patni hone ka ehsaas nahi dilaya...Today he was giving her, her rightful place and she rejected him....
Last time she thought he uttered those words she felt it was because his life is in danger but this time its heartfelt......Will the girl accept him for who he is? She said a few days ago, hum aapko badlana nahi chahte....Will that apply here? Will he bend over backwards to make her happy? I think he will..... End of the day it has to be about what they both want; to reach that middle ground.
A girl who believed in true love has found true love... Should traditions supersede all else? Or does eternal love like Radhakrishna shared triumph? We have revered Radhakrishna's eternal love forever...A debate for viewers...
The marriage was forced on by the intruder on the terrace last time, ASR....This time it was dadi....Will dadi force them to marry again or will Arnav willingly do it for his love? Will Khushi accept his true love and forget about a big wedding? Accept him for who he is, flawed but yet her Rajkumar? If this smile is an indication, the answer is yes! True love triumphs...
But it's a show and it is the game of numbers...TRP's rule...đđź
