1. For any girl and especially Asian girls it is important to have the blessings of the elders and also the blessings of God. Khushi as a traditional girl raised in the Hindu way will never take the next step now that she found out that the 7 pheras are very important and has to be completed before living like a husband and a wife. If she did consummate than she would have always had this guilty feeling of disappointing her family members and crucially herself.
2. By making Arnav do all of these pheras she is making him realise that it is not enough to just focus on the personal feelings and just forget about traditions and rituals. Arnav needs to know that although he doesn't care about those things it matters to Khushi - so much that she will never be able to fully accept him as her husband until it has been completed.
3. Arnav needs to start thinking with his head and not with something else. He has to realise that the outer world will always point fingers at Khushi for living with him as husband and wife without the elders blessings and without completing the pheras. When the promo scene happens with Dadi accusing Khushi of being "characterless" for staying in the same room without the proper rituals - it will hit him how much damage he has done.
4. Last but least this is something entirely else - Dadi had tears in her eyes. I think Dadi heard everything and has changed her view of Khushi. She will only pretend to attack Khushi in the promo scene to make Arnav complete the pheras. She knows that she is the only one who can make Arnav angry enough to consent to do the whole wedding again. Arnav in his anger towards Dadi for attacking Khushi will announce that he will do everything by the book and than be with Khushi.
PS: Sanaya looked so gorgeous that I would do her and I can totally understand Arnav being frustrated 😆
