Anjali-Arnav -Sibling Bond
We all know their story and this thread is not to tell you what you all know. This is merely an attempt to understand why some of you feel that this relation is described in way that confuses people mind. Anjali is seen as "Selfish", "Clingy" and "Jealous" sister and arnav is seen as overprotective brother who at times forget his wife for his sister. Is that true?
- Is expecting your brother around you when you are in worst situation of your life a selfish act?
- Is expressing your hurt at seeing your brother in celebration mood when your world has been torned apart a Jealousy act?
- Is expecting your only real family to be by your side when you experience little joy of seeing your unborn child questionable?
Other common points raised often:
Anjali - 'her brother's weakness than strength
Bt, when dat shell is shaken, Arnav becomes the 'father figure' with Anjali being the little daughter. 'light moments' like 'toffee bhi chahiye'...by Anjali on 'd terrace hug day', and the recent 'tum hamesha sab teek karthe ho naa'... All shows how much they mean to each other... If there was no Anjali, there would hav been no Arnav too. Its not a question of 'weakness or strength'...bt its called 'accepting each other, the way they are'.
Anjali- Term used 'dependant or clingy nature

Now coming to the emotional dependence part. The past has not yet been shown but the fbs suggest that it was traumatic. It was traumatic enough to change Arnav to ASR, to make a kid brother grow up overnite and take charge of the lives of his and his elder sister. So it is expected that they are emotionally dependent on each other very strongly. Being orphan is one thing but witnessing ur parents being murdered or committing suicide in front of ur eyes is a different thing. One can't forget it ever coz it scars the soul and the psyche !!
The dependence was not only from Anjali's side, it was from Arnav's side as well. Both of them together had made a world for their survival where Anjali was the emotional aspect and ASR the practical aspect. Without Anjali there wouldn't have been an ASR, Arnav would have been another name in the list of orphans who got lost in the crowd of the world. It is her presence which kept him going.
Even the toughest man/woman does have somebody in their lives in front whom they can be themselves, on whom they r emotionally dependent !!!!
Her initial reaction to Shyam Fiasco was also questioned by many-
1. Why didn't she believe in khushi?
2. Why didn't she believe in Arnav?
3. Cant she see shyam's real side- delusional person?
4. Was she happy for ASR being in love only when shyam was there?
We have tried to answer some of them below:
- Did she ever question khushi again on it or arnav again on it.
- She also said that arnav cant be wrong either to her nani- So she did believe what he said and did was right for her.
Shyam was shown from the start that he was nice to her always and provided her with what she always wanted ..and when all of sudden you are out of that important relation in your life. You get a huge setback.
Arnav -Overprotective or he loves his di more?
Do we compare love that we have for our parents with love that we have for our husbands. Then why this comparison whether arnav loves his di more or khushi more? He is overprotective -yes he is but thats because she is only real family he has .Before khushi came his di was only reason for his survival. When you have lost your near and dear ones in front of your eyes.People do get overprotective of the ones that are left with them.It is very common.
From ASR's point of view, both of them r important in his life. So there is no comparison between them or in his love for them. Till date he is emotionally more dependent on Anjali than Khushi, it is in front of Anjali only that he can be Arnav alws, in front of Khushi it is not so till now. Obvious reason, he is bonded to Anjali more strongly, be it by birth, by their past, their pain, their trauma, it had alws been she who was with him surviving the odds of their lives!!!!
Special mention to cutebarun (jachu) too for her ideas on this post !!
