She is gorgeous and agedefying. And after a gap of 20 long years, superstar wife and social activist, Amala Akkineni, will be seen making her comeback on the big screen with Sekhar Kammula's Life is Beautiful. "I was apprehensive initially, not because I didn't have faith in the film, but because I haven't faced the camera in 20 long years," said Amala. "Sekhar called and texted me a number of times. But I kept procrastinating my reply. Finally, I decided to go ahead and do the film."
While 20 years might seem like a long gap in an actor's career, Amala points out that her decision to stay away from films was firmly rooted in her family's well-being. "I shot for my last film in 1992. After that I got busy with my son Akhil and other social activities. Now that Akhil is grown up and doesn't need me around him anymore, I thought why not give acting a shot again," explains Amala. "My son Akhil always visited his father (Nagarjuna) on the sets of his film. He has seen his father act. When I started my movie, I asked him to come on sets to see how his mother acts!" laughs the actor. Despite the muchtalked about comeback, Amala is still undecided on future as an actor. "Look, as of now, I have not decided if I want to do more films or not. My decision was based on the spur of the moment. Let's see what happens in future."
Meanwhile, Tollywood superstar Nagarjuna is the everdoting husband. "Amala plays a mother to the kids in the movie. But all I have to say is that instead of a mother, my wife looks like a sister to the actors," said a proud Nag.
