The first QOTW for ML - (Discuss Beauty)

Well …If you check out this thread – http://www.india-forums.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=365636&T PN=1&#6196888 you will see that we are trying to get the old ML back, therefore we have introduced something called, "Quote of the week."

The quote of the week, for this week is

"The first question I ask myself when something doesn't seem to be beautiful is why do I think it's not beautiful. And very shortly you discover that there is no reason." - John Cage

Now, we are not asking you to debate about this quote, just discuss. Some ques to get discussion started.

1.) What do you think of the quote? Do you think it's true?

Well it's a nice quote, and the person who wrote it, John Cage must have been a very nice guy. I mean by reading the quote, you can tell he doesn't find anything ugly, because he wrote "The first question I ask myself when something doesn't seem to be beautiful is why do I think it's not beautiful. And very shortly you discover that there is no reason." If there is no reason, then its not ugly..and if u dun think anything is ugly..then ur a very nice person lolz.

2.) What is beauty to you?

Beauty to me, is not only wht u see on the outside...your personality can also be part of beauty.

3.) Do you think EVERYONE in this world is beautiful? EVERYONE?

Ok, physically not everyone can look like a super model, but I do believe that everyone has some type of good quialiy in their personality, and maybe that's their beauty..if so, then so be it.

4.) Is beauty really in the eye of the beholder?

Yes, I think it is. Because not everyone finds everything beautiful, everyone is diff therefore everyone has diff views, and tastes, so if one thing is considered beautiful by 1 person doesn't mean its considered beautiful by the other person.

Wonderful quote man! I think it is very true. If you take a moment before judging someone or something as "ugly" then u may actually find out that it really isnt tht bad.

2.) What is beauty to you?

Beauty is found on the outside but the beauty that is more important is inner beauty. Today u look pretty tomorrow u dont. But if ur heart is "pretty" then it will always be "pretty."

3.) Do you think EVERYONE in this world is beautiful? EVERYONE?

Well now tht u ask not everyone may have the best looks. But there can me something in the person that would make them beautiful. A something maybe they havent even figured out about themselves.

4.) Is beauty really in the eye of the beholder?

Yea. The way u look at someone or something also influences the way u will judge the person or thing.

I couldn't agree anymore!😊i think it's most definitely true..if you think about it..the quote actually makes sense😉

Beauty to me is undescribable😳the word beauty can be perceived in many ways..beauty is a very deep word..it takes many to understand the true meaning..i wouldn't quite be true to myself by saying that beauty only comes from the inside..but yes..it does..but ur face beauty says a lot about a person to me..

3.) Do you think EVERYONE in this world is beautiful? EVERYONE?

it depends what you mean by beautiful..i suppose mine like many would be a typical answer..each person holds a unique beauty..some are good at something that their neighbour may be not so good at😕

4.) Is beauty really in the eye of the beholder?

According to me..yes..and no..yes because eyes hold a lot of emotion in them😳they say a lot w.o u even saying a word..and no because a lot of times it takes more than just that to know a person truly and their real inner beauty😛

1.) What do you think of the quote? Do you think it's true? 100% true. U can't judge a person on his outer beauty. Beauty can amuse for a while but its the inner beauty that shows the real worth of a person. Judging a person by his outer beautu shows how ugly person u urself are.

2.) What is beauty to you? Beauty is something that u have and u cultivate over time. Beauty is ur inner glow that shows on ur outer self too.

3.) Do you think EVERYONE in this world is beautiful? EVERYONE? The only people who aren't beautiful are the people without a pure heart. It doesn't matter if a person is short, fat, ugly or any thing but the minute u loose the pureness of ur heart, u are an ugly person

4.) Is beauty really in the eye of the beholder? Umm..when it comes to physical beauty: yes...when it is inner beauty: no. Physical beauty is not important and its in the eye of the beholder but inner beauty is urs to cultivate.

The quote is indubitably true. Half the times we dont find something beautiful we have no reason for it, and the other half of the time that reason holds no water when u analyze it.

Beauty is everything that makes u feel. If something elicits a reaction from u and u can connect to it then its beautiful.

Yes everyone is beautiful in their own way. Some people have physical beauty and some are beautiful on the inside, but either way everyone is beautiful in some way.

True beauty (not the superficial kind) isn't dependant on the beholder. Nobody can deny true beauty, they might try but eventually they'll have to recognize it.

The quote is very nice, i like the way it avoids the use of word "ugly" and instead uses not beautiful.

If u analyse things objectively u will find this to be true.

U cant define beauty, anything that would give u inner peace and happiness for me would be beauty.

Well again if u look at it objectively then the answer would be yes as every1 does have some good in them as some bad in them, so nobody is just bad bad bad, as they say that even a stopped watch is right twice a day.

Subjectively i would say maybe not, as every1 has their own likes and dislikes.

I believe it is, and i think it applies to both inner beauty and outer beauty.

I think it's a great quote and very optimistic.

Beauty is not only what is on the outside as physical appearance, it's also found in the character and action of a person.

It depends on what exactly is beautiful being used as...but I think everyone holds some sort of beauty in themselves.

I think it is because if a person doesn't get affected by what the people say around him/her, and they still believe they're beautiful then maybe it is in the eye of the beholder because the person him/herself knows what kind of beauty he/she posesses.

well if u look at it as da outer beauty den yes every1 is beautiful in their own way however if u want 2 look it in da inner way as how people can be den il.l have 2 honest n say der r sum realy unbeautiful people in dis world n im not sayin nothing horrible 2 them but jus tryin 2 answer da question cause deep down some people are not beautiful

erm....... dis 1s a hard 1 erm...... both actualy yes n no yes because well 4rm a persons eye u can tell how they r feelin u can read them thru thier eyes n its jus beautiful n no because they can sumtyms b decieving n make u see sumfin different
