Without much bak bak from me...here goes..
Chapter 5
Shower cubicle 3, Changing room.
One of the best things about football practices was the post-practice shower. Sure, one would prefer having a nice warm bubble bath in the their bathroom of their respective house but the showers of the boys changing room held a special place in the heart of Arnav Singh Raizada because it was the place where he could get what he was sure he would never get at his own house--privacy. But that did not mean that he didn't shower at his house. No. Arnav Singh Raizada was impeccable in matters of hygiene and sanitation.
And so there he stood under the shower, the warm water cascading down his back, washing off all the dirt and sweat. He would usually be the last one to leave the changing room because he liked to stay in there and think about everything that was going on. On that particular day, he needed to think. A lot.
He had to think about Di's teasing and how he could bring an end to it, he had to think about why he had told Khushi that he would talk to NK about the date when he was so against the whole idea of it and most of all he had to think about how he was going to talk to NK about it now that he had agreed to the ridiculous task.
The worst part about the whole situation was that he could not think no matter how hard he tried to focus his thoughts. Now why would Arnav Singh Raizada, the synonym of focus and concentration not be able to think with a straight head?
The answer or rather the reason to it was in the neighboring shower cubicle. Because in that shower cubicle, was a very handsome, well-built, charming and at that moment in the danger of being murdered by Arnav Singh Raizada in cold blood, NK.
Arnav was very non-violent (says he) as such and had no problem if the person in question of being murdered was just doing what a normal person would do under the shower. Stand under the damn shower and if one was in a pleasant mood then hum a pleasant tune.
But NK was jumping over the boundaries which controlled Arnav's temper like he was in the Olympics Long Jump. NK was singing. He was singing every song that Arnav had hated including Justin Beiber's "Baby" and he was on the verge of thrusting his hand through the common wall and choke him up when NK said,"Hey Arnav, you are in the next shower cubicle right bro?"
Bro? Bro? He would rather be called 'bro' by Justin Beiber than him because he could not tolerate to be related to him in any way. So, he decided he would just ignore him, hoping he would stop.
It was like the Universe knew exactly what Arnav wanted. So, the Universe plotted exactly the opposite, the proof of which was NK's next words.
"Arnav. Arnav. Arnav. Arnav. Arnav. Arnav. Arrrnnnaaavvv. ASR. ASR. ASR. ASR. ASR. ASR. ASR. ASR. ASR. Aaa-Sss-Rrr. Nannav. Nannav. Nannav. Nannav. Nannav. Nannav. Nann---"
"WHAT, NK? Seriously, what? And who the hell is Nannav?", asked Arnav who was even more frustrated than those matches when Arsenal lost or tied up against an average club during the extra time.
"Aha. I knew Nannav would get to you. I morphed our names together and tada! I got Nannav. Isn't it simply awesome?"
Arnav was about to reply bluntly "No" but since everything was going wrong in his life, NK cut him off and made things in his life even more wrong.
"I know it's awesome. We would be the coolest pair in this college. We are both popular, handsome, rich and a part of the college football team. We could open a fan club, you know, The Nannav Fan Club and only girls will be allowed to join the club. Every month we will answer the questions that they will ask us about our life during the club meetings. How about it?"
As horrific pictures of whatever NK was describing flashed through his tender mind, Arnav shivered but he was sure it was not because of the water which had gone cold all of a sudden. He realized he could not keep up with NK's insanity without punching the daylights out of him for infiltrating his sanctuary and scarring his mind.
Like a bee travels from one flower to another in a matter of few minutes, NK's mind conjured up a new idea immediately and he wasted no time in suggesting it to Arnav
"Okay, forget about the club. It's too messy to keep a track of all the members. I just made a new song and you have an important part in it. Here listen to it,
"Aaj mausam hain suhaana,
Nahaane ka hain bahaana,
What the, what the, what the---"
"It's amazing, NK. I loved how you have used my tendency of saying 'What the' during unbelievable situations in your song. You are a good singer", Arnav said with all the sarcasm in his voice.
"Thanks, ASR. I knew you would appreciate my attempts. There is actually more but I still have to improvise it a bit so let's save it for another day", said NK.
"Yeah, sure, I am all ears", said Arnav rolling his eyes as he turned off the shower, dried himself quickly, dressed up in his clothes and stepped out of the cubicle into their well polished locker room, wanting to escape that place.
But yet again, the Universe decided to go against him because NK stepped out of his own cubicle at the very same moment.
He cursed the three blind Fates who for some unknown reason were bent upon making him suffer. He no longer believed in the saying "Every dog has his day."
NK gave him a wide smile, spread his arms and gave Arnav a whole hearted hug which Arnav returned less than half-heartedly. NK broke the hug and asked Arnav, "We hardly get to talk these days, bro. How is life?"
"My life is just like it should be. Peaceful and calm", Arnav stressed on the words 'peaceful' and 'calm' purposefully hoping Pretty Boy would understand.
Pretty Boy just ignored all the efforts that Arnav was putting into the sarcasm and laughed. He then asked," I have been thinking..."
Oh crap. NK was thinking. That was not a nice thing, thought Arnav but he didn't say anything.
"Why don't we watch The Dark Knight Rises on this weekend? I hear it's a brilliant movie."
Arnav couldn't help replying," Obviously it's brilliant. It's a Batman movie."
"Yes, yes of course it is but the question is still unanswered. Will you come? I was planning for a kind of double date. Then we have to just find the girls which won't take time. So, is it a yes or a no?" asked NK, the dimpled smile refusing to leave his face.
"NK, you know I don't date anyone just randomly. Besides, I am busy this weekend", lied Arnav smoothly. He was honest about the No-Random-Dating policy but he did want to catch the movie because it was directed by one of his favorite directors. Besides, it was a Batman movie. That alone was enough for a reason. However, he was sure that he would prefer watching the movie with HP rather than a couple of giggling girls next to him.
NK's face fell for the first time and Arnav felt sadistic pleasure at seeing his crestfallen face.
Suddenly, he was struck with a brilliant idea.
"Why don't you go with Khushi? She told me she wants to go on a date of a sort and as far as I know her she loves Batman movies", Arnav suggested, praying fervently that Pretty Boy would buy it.
Pretty Boy thought for a while and answered, "If she wants to watch the movie, why don't you go with her?"
Pretty Boy had brains too, thought Arnav before he answered, "I told you, she wants to go on a kind of date. You are a ummm...friend and I can ummm...trust you. Besides, I said I am busy this weekend."
"But why are you trying to set me up with your girlfriend?" asked a very confused NK.
Arnav groaned, "Not you too!! What part of 'Khushi and I are best friends' doesn't this world understand?"
NK was about to answer when Arnav cut him off, "Don't. Even. Try. To. Answer. That. Let me clarify it for you too. Khushi and I are best friends. Okay? Nothing else."
Saying that, he walked off without waiting for NK's answer. NK ran and quickly caught up with him.
"So, you and Khushi are not in a relationship?" confirmed NK a little fearfully because Arnav looked ready to kill.
Arnav turned to him, and merely raised his eyebrow.
"Oh. Okay then. That's cool. I always thought Khushi was ummm...really hot. I'll give her a call today to ask her out. Thanks for clarifying things Nannav...oops...Arnav", said NK. He winked at Arnav who had suddenly stopped in his tracks and he walked off leaving Arnav alone in the small hallway that lead to the football pitch.
What NK missed was the tensed body of Arnav, the anger in his narrowed eyes and his clenched fists.
How dare he call her hot? How dare he call his Khushi hot? Besides, "hot" was such a stupid term to describe someone, especially a woman. Khushi was beautiful. That was more like it.
A minute later he realized what he had just thought. What the--- he thought, before shaking his head and walked away attributing his weird thoughts to spending too much time with NK.

NK might seem like he is an idiot but he is not...he was just being NK. One of the scenes was inspired from The Family Guy... I hope you'll get it...😆
