They were related for sure because both Devyani and Aishwariya were frm the Rana family.
In addition to that, there were two other candidates for the marriage, Garima nd Supriya. The queen's choice was Supriya. Plus she had personal problems with Devyani's mom who herself was from the royal family of Gwalior, India.

Yes samana the most cruel murder that too up on a royal clan ,thats something similar to assassination of Russian royal family including their innocent children on other circumstances . These two incidents are unacceptable act . 😒
I admire Nephal for being a only Hindu country in World's map .Now that too had gone. 😔

I had one doubt ,It is said that Lord Buddha belongs to Sakha clan(i.e Ishvaku clan according to our Indain legends ) . SO what happened to their continuity...Is there any descendent's there from that clan?
I also read in Jataka tales that Bhuddha's wife Yashodara also belongs to same community (clan),and the two Royal families used to intermarriage within themselves .Is that true !. IF that is true in the sense, then Gautama Buddha must be a distant descendant of LOrd Rama right !
What u people usually say about that

Samana, Dipendra being related to Devyani was a legitimate issue for objecting to their marriage, but the others, like the queen's differences w/ Devyani's family was IMHO less so.

Vanadhi, that's my regret as well, which is why I asked Samana the question 13 on pg 3. And given what the Maoists did in both China and Cambodia and what they do in India, their coming to power in Nepal was shocking.

Good observation about the massacre of the Romanovs in Russia. For 70 years, the facts about that massacre were hidden by the Soviet regime, and only came to light after the Soviet Union was abolished.

I'll let Samana answer your other questions.

@Vrish, the queen should hav accepted her because she was perfect. But the queen, as everyday knew, had the country under her hands rather than the king. Dipendra was madly in love Devyani. It was quite shocking to find out that he killed his own family! The queen's face was so badly disfigured that they had to replace it wid a china doll. A son couldn't hav done that. What about his sister and brother? They were purely innocent. I had even heard that princess Shruti was pregnant at that time.

About the maoists, I don't understand what's up wid the government? Actually its not ppl's fault, during the voting season the maoists bullied the rural residents to vote for them. For the urban areas the voting was done properly.
The ppl who were responsible for thousands of deaths, are now the rulers. I hate that!
Besides, I havn't noticed much change in the country's condition. It has degraded to say the truth.

@vanadhi, lord buddha was from Shakya clan, a kshatriya. Though there is no account (I havn't heard one) of the continuity of their clan. Although Buddha had a son named Rahul.

About intermarriage, that could be true because there are many instances where the members of same family married in Nepal. They used to call it mama cheli phupu chelo. (mama-mother's brother cheli- daughter. Phupu-dad's sister, here the mother. Chelo- son).
Though this was a very time back. Kings usually married two or more than two wives, who were sisters to each other.

@Vrish
nice explanation ,so it is hidden for 70 years 😒 what a injustice to them,
Whereas in Nephal case ,i heard the Prince was completely drunken ,hence the rest of the story followed ,But i also heard that another version about a outsider entered in meanwhile with the help of secret tunnel inside the palace ,so can't conclude which is true. .As u said If that incident is avoided or prevented by any means ,now Nephal must be more stable with good rapport relations with India too . every thing is vanished .

@ so there is no clue about any descendants hmmm,Ya i have read Rahulah too joined His father at the younger age of 12 and died prior to Lord Bhuddha(i.e his father ) . Yashodara and her Mother in law jointly started the mutt for Female Nuns in Buddhism i think so.
so just asked whether , any other member of their family continued their clan or not !😊 .Thanks for the clarification

Samana

I recall seeing a hit piece on Prince Dipendra from the BBC, but frankly, I've rarely trusted the BBC, since they haven't been above manufacturing their own stories. In it, the prince was portrayed as a playboy and a bully while in England, and they covered the massacre in detail. I won't argue that the prince was a saint, but the BBC does blacken the reputation of those they don't like.

About the Maoists, what you are describing is similar to what the Marxists were reputed to have done in W Bengal - intimidate people into voting for them using violence, so that for 30+ years, they kept getting elected. Last year was the first time that they were removed from power. In India's case, it was fortunate that it was just one state. For Nepal, they had the whole country while they were in power.

I do hope that a future government in Nepal restores the country's Hindu status. In Wiki, I read that Mahadev is the guardian deity of the country (which seems to explain why a majority of people are Shaivyas). Have they abolished that status for him as well? It would seem that if they are declaring a Hindu deity as the guardian deity of the country, they're automatically accepting that they are a Hindu nation.

About Buddha, I too am curious - if Rahul too joined the Sangha, then what became of Sudhodhana's dynasty after his death? Did it just dissolve, or get annexed to another kingdom?

Samana, I have another question. Towards the end of Rama's reign, Lakshman's sons were made kings of 2 cities in Karupadhadesh, which is described as being in the Himalayas. Is this a region/place anywhere in Nepal? The names of their cities were Angavad and Chandrakant.

@Vrish, even when Nepal is not considered as a hindu country right now, there isn't much change in the status that I have noticed. Only more holidays! Haha.
About Shivji, he is considered as the major deity. Vishnu temples are fewer and so are Vaishnavs. The temples, major festivals etc here are mostly associated with Devi, Shivji and Ganesh. Also Pashupatinath being in the capital is seen as the guardian of the country.

But if u had heard, the maoists tried to use the treasures of pashupatinatha for the welfare of the country. The pashupatinath treasury is thousands of years old and it is said that its very valuable. The treasure is said to be guarded by nags. The ppl were furious to hear this. But later the maoists dropped the plan.

I saw ur question just now. Sry for being late.

I don't know any place named as Karupadhadesh. Maybe the name was modified. But there isn't such place in Nepal.

About the kingdom, I think the Sen's ruled it which was later captured by Shahs.
