Could Charu be suffering from a psychological disorder that the family is trying to hide? 🤔 Perhaps some type of a personality disorder...
Her behavior is definitely strange and the way Charu's family is sending such lavish presents only on their engagement, it is indeed a little too much. Such behavior is surely questionable and it seems that they are hiding something up their sleeves...

I don't even think that her parents are rich either. I mean sure there is the many gifts but she was saying that her look in the cafe was based on Mumbai girls' style but Gunjan is from Mumbai and they don't dress or act like that so maybe she is not as modern and rich as she seems.

I don't know what Mayank saw in her that he agreed to the engagement. Very weird girl. I think she is portraying (in the most extreme sense) different characteristics that all come from low self esteem. The jealousy of Gunjan, the over addiction to Bollywood and others. It could be she is the wolf in sheep's clothing, as some have suggested here. Time will tell. For now its comical in the weird sense.
