This post is regarding Ma Parvati touching Mahadev's feet when he is disguised as her Guru/ Aghori baba. I know that it is perfectly okay for Parvati Ma in her human form to touch Mahadev's feet since he is her guru.

But I am just appalled that what was the need to bring in such a motif. Somehow or the other a justification that a wife is meant to touch her husband's feet to be a perfect wife..I do not remember Sati touching Shivji's feet ever not even in his human form. (Jata) and Sati was not yogya...right?

This has been the undoing of most of our tradition, culture and literature. Somehow or the other, or on some pretext or the other they introduce this motif. Equality of Shiv and Shakti is integral to our religion.

I wish people would not keep bringing in their personal biases and prejudices against women in all this.( I mean the CVs here)

For me, the best sequence was one where Lord Shiv was so moved by Ma Parvati's pain that he involuntarily got up to go to her. Her pain was visible on his face.

But these CVs, they want to satisfy both sections of the audience and always fall flat on their face, satisfying no one. I remember another show on Imagine "Jyoti" where the CVs perpetually made the very same mistake.

But they are not intensionally showed that ,In yesterday's epi ,Its a symbolic representation to show our respect to our elder ones thats all.

Where husband not touching his wife's foot is nothing ,most of the Indian wedding are based on same ratio that, husband is elder than wife .

If the elder people (its is knowledge at that times ,now it becomes just age )touch the younger one''s feet ironically believed that the life span of later is reduced and also carries the disrespectful nature of them ,So only most of wifes are asked to touch theirs husbands foot. (Mostly in the case of Rishi patni ,Learned persons are their husbands ,so they are Guru him selves,Its not applicable to ordinary males. )

I still read some where that, when the wive's are more intelligent some times ,that makes their husband to fall on their feet.in some debate sessions .

Later This act is made essential to show their supremacy by Males .

Male chauvinism is just few thousand years old .Hope it will have less life span than they expected

Relax, the cvs here are trying to show just the relationship between Guru-Shishya .

But apart from this particular scene, u r right they r portraying Parvathy secondary , even in Sati's track Shiv was supreme .

I hope after Parvathi's Thapas she will be treated as equally as Shiv .

Mulan they don't show it to hurt anyone..Parvati touch his feet as his Shishya...not wife..Shishya always touch his Guru's feet to show them respect...Parvati also did the same...she didn't know that that is Mahadev...😊

@Vanadhi..I am happy you raised the issue of women marrying men who are elder to them and so touching elders feet is ok and also that it is just a means of showing respect.

I have a feeling that this has been badly abused. As an elder and supposedly more mature husband, the wife should receive gentle and kind treatment from her spouse. He should be more forgiving and understanding and bear up with an "immature" wife.

In reality what we see is an abuse where the husband knows he has the right to put his wife in place since she is younger to him. Including slapping his wife around to do so. Chauvinists take reference from our religious texts too.

Also, Mahadev knows that the woman touching his feet is the sampoorna Adishakti. If he cannot be made to touch Daksha's feet,for causing him harm, how can Adi shakti touch Lord Shiva's feet and there is nothing wrong in the least? There must be some consequence arising from that.

I know the sequence was that of a guru shishya and nothing much can be said to object to that. I already stated that in opening the post.I resent this clever ploy of introducing a third grade idea of Adishakti touching Mahadev's feet even in her Sampurna form.

What I propose is the concept of Ardhnareeshwar. Is that concept smaller or bigger than any motifs or symbols? Or is that just an amusing idea? That concept needs to be respected first and last.

Please calm down. Parvati touched Mahadev's feet as his shishya. She did not know it was Mahadev standing in front of her. A sishya always touches the guru's feet to seek his blessing.

Parvati only touched Mahadevs feet as a Shishya-not as a wife,our culture says that we should touch the feet of those more knowledgeable than us,who give us knowledge-hence she touched his feet out of respect...

Regarding Wife touching husbands feet-its as a mark of respect as a husband is regarded to be a guru to his wife-to guide her,but yes a highly misinterpreted one,which makes MCPs think they are greater than women,and makes them think they are "Pati Parmeshwar",ie they are being worshipped!

When they show Mahadev and Parvati married they definitely wont show such a thing-she is his wamagi,his equal-Thats what is actually "Pati parmeshwar" in the true sense,so no feet touching there!

Thanks guys..for helping me let off some steam...I know that the feet touching itself was not wrong as per the situation..

I only know that not everyone will have the cool judgement of the forum members here and they kind of start drawing parallels from shows like these.. misinterpreting what is shown...citing examples from the Puranas and such literature.
