Why Facebook likes Salman Khan, not SRK

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Web presence has, in fact, given a new decisive dimension to the infamous Khan war.

Salman Khan's paradoxical rise against superstar Shah Rukh Khan has, on many occasions, raised questions of supremacy while the hoopla around it remains inconclusive.

Now, the Internet has turned out to be an all new tool. It's no more mere hype. As the Cyberspace gets abuzz with celebrity talk and gossips, Salman stealthily scales up the chart. Trailing behind are superstar Shah Rukh and Amitabh Bachchan.

With close to 4.5 million likes, Salman has hit a new high on world's leading social engagement platform Facebook. He shares video links and even rare pictures that depict him in a new avatar of a painter. Most viewed are the stills and trailers of his latest flick Ek Tha Tiger.

Shah Rukh's Fan Club and Community Page together struggle to reach even a half-a-million mark on Facebook. While Amitabh Bachchan's presence under Public Figure received fairly decent 346,859 likes.

Albeit, Twitterati is not virtuous to Salman. Shah Rukh is ahead of him with 25,47,674 followers, while Salman has 23,73,160 followers on microblogging site Twitter.

"It's not simply his quest but the kind of work, Salman does, including humanitarian engagement, shot him to such an elevated Cyberfame," believes Internet-savvy Varun Malhotra.
