Tere Ishq Ne Mohe Rang Dala
Maanvi casually went into her room, taking her medicines, she was about to move towards the window sill when it started. She was coughing, so hard that her chest ached. Her head was spinning, she was starting to sweat.
She wanted to call Beeji, Dabbu.. her Di. But couldn't. She couldn't even walk. She slowly staggered towards the door and she nearly collap-
"Maaviii!"
Virat sat in bed, silently thanking god that it was just a dream. How he wished she was here, he could pay her a visit or two, see that she was okay. But, no! She left him, didn't even care how his heart broke the moment she told him to leave her alone.
He shook his head. That won't stop him from caring for her or loving her. He glanced at the clock. It was nearly midnight. He skipped dinner again. The past few days were like hell.. All he could think of was ... her.
He walked into the kitchen, "three days partner.. And I'm missing you like hell!"
He was surprised that his bhai's door was wide open, the lights were still on.
"Bhai.. wow! Bhabhi.. " he greeted Jeevika as he stepped inside.
"Virat.. Tum soye nahi?" Viren asked him.
Virat ignored that, "Bhabhi aap kab aayi.. kaisi ho?"
"Bas shaam ko ayi thi.. I'm fine.. " was Jeevi's meek reply.
"Aur Maanvi?" Virat couldn't help but ask.
"Theek hai.. medicines le rahi hai.. "
Virat didn't press the matter but Jeevika went on.
"Par uski ankhon mein udaasi, mujhse deki nahi jaati.. Main waha rehna chahti thi.. Par usne Mujhe bhej diya.. Main use khush karne keliye kuch nahi karpaayi.."
He couldn't bear to look at his bhabhi. Her voice was thick. He knew she was crying. He left the room with a glance at his bhai.
He went into his room, drank some water. Sadly took a bite of his sandwich.
Jeevika's words rang in his head.
"Main use khush karne keliye kuch nahi karpaayi.."
Like an answer he remembered Dr. Riddhima's words.
"Agar use koi baat khush karsakti hai.. Koi baat use jeene ki ummeed de sakti hai.. Woh hai- Tumhara Pyar!"
He sighed. Could he be the cure for her? He knew his love for her was so strong that it can get past any obstacles but still.. Did she love him back? Why had she become sad all of a sudden? Was she missing him just the way he did?
He didn't quite know when he dozed off thinking about Maanvi and his love.
~ The next morning
Virat got up confidently. He had decided that moment itself. He was going to Hrishikesh. He would tell her, no matter if she loved him back or not.. He would keep loving her and face whatever misery that came her way, shielding her always.
He ate breakfast in silence, carefully avoiding his dadaji's eyes.
Viren squeazed his hand and whispered, "kya main teri koi madad karsakta hoon?"
Virat smiled, "yes bhai.. but abhi nahi."
~
Later, that morning Virat found himself by Dr. Riddhima's door.
"Virat??"
She was pleasantly surprised at the sight of him.
"Morning Doctor, Kya main andar aa saktha hoon?" he asked with a smile.
"Yes.. why not! Come in.. "
Her house was much smaller than Vadhera mansion, but was perfect cozy little place for the couple. Virat smiled as he noticed the photograph hung by the wall. The guy who looked dashing might be her hubby?!
"Nice house.. I hope I'm not disturbing you.. " he felt that his decision to see her was wrong.
"Nahin.. Plz sit. Kya lenge? Coffee ya tea? And waise acha hua aap abhi aagaye.. sham ko mumbai jaanewaali thi.. " she smiled up at him.
"Thanks.. actually main aapko thanks kehne aaya tha. Woh Maanvi ke baare mein.. aapne jo bhi kahan.. I dunno.. Kya sahi hai.. Haan, yeh sach hai Main uske liye apni jaan bhi desakta hoon lekin- "
"Lekin kya.. I don't know, main yeh toh nahi kehsakthi ki uski complete cure ho payegi ya nahi.. But you know what, aise patients jinke saath kisi apne ka pyaar aur bharosa hota hai.. They survive longer.. "
Virat smiled at the thought, " longer... "
"Yes.. Jithna ho sake Maanvi ko khush rakhna hoga. Saath mein time pe medicines, chemo.. And ho sakta hai.. kuch kamal ho jaye.. There is always hop Virat.. Kabhi mayus nahi hona hai.. "
Ridhimma was right. His heart burn had subsided at her words, at least to some extent. Now his only task was to keep Maanvi happy.
"Is he your husband?" he asked suddenly, "I'm sorry.. Just curious, aapki love marriage hui kai kya?"
Riddhima laughed as she glanced at the photo hung by the wall, "yes.. Dr. Armaan Mallik.. my husband.. "
"Woh bhi doctor hai? wow.. "
"Haan.. we both were interns.. Patha hi nahi chala.. kab dushman se dost.. aur dost se kuch aur bangaye hum.."
Virat nodded, "you're lucky.. Jisse pyar kiya.. woh aapko milgaya.. humesha keliye.. "
Ridhima smiled again, "hmm.. mila toh hai.. Lekin kahi mushkilon se ghusarne ke baad.. Koi bhi lovestory aasaan nahi hai.. "
"Sorry. "
"No.. Don't be. Bahut kuch jhelna pada.. tab jaake humari shaadi hui.. Do maheene saath the, phir woh mumbai ke sanjeevani mein aur main yaha iss hospital mein.. I miss him, but we are always there for each other. Jab bhi I feel like seeing him, I go there.. aaj bhi jaari thi.. "
Virat smiled.
"Thank you Doctor, aapse milke mera manzil aur clearly nazar aaraha hai.. thank you.. "
With that he walked out of the house as Riddhima waved him good bye, "anytime Viraat. "
~ Hrishikesh
Maanvi was sad would be an understatement. She missed him, his smile.. his casual talk, his care. She wanted to call him, but no! That would only result in heart ache for both of them.
"Tumhari yaad aari hai partner.. Tum se baat karne a man ho raha hai.. "
She was sitting in the balcony. Glancing at the starlit sky. It was a beautiful evening. She wished he was there, by her side.
"To phir karo na baat.. "
She turned abruptly and saw that the object of her thoughts, her Virat was sitting on her bed.
"Tum yahan.. Kaise? Kab aaye?" She smiled, a billion watt smile forming on her lips.
"Abhi.. bas tumne pukaara.. aur main aagaya!" He smiled up at her. And she melted.
She wanted to hug him, yell at him for not coming earlier.. confess that she loved him. But- she quickly brushed those thoughts away. Her happiness replaced by misery & grief. She was the unlucky girl who would never unite with the guy she loved.
"Upset ho? Nahi Maanvi.. You know I love you so much.. Though u don't return the feelings.. I will always love you.. "
Tears gathered in her eyes.
"Hey rona nahi partner. Its okay.. If you don't love me.. "
She wanted to slap him. Kill him for saying that.. can't he see she loved him??
"Acha still upset.. Chalo ek gaana gaa letha hoon... for you - My love.. "
Virat began humming as her tears rolled down her cheeks she couldn't bear his sweetness. It was getting her.
"Kya hua.. why are you upset? Kya maine kuch galat kiya.. Plzz talk to me.. " Virat was pleading her again. She refused to look at him.
Her head was spinning memories of her time with him flooding into her brain.
"Maanvi.. "
"Just leave me alone Virat!!"
She glanced around only to find that she was alone in the room. It was all just imagination. She realized Virat was still in Chandigarh.
She burst out in tears, "I'm sorry Virat.. Lekin yahi humare liye.. sahi hai!"
~ That night, Chandigarh
Virat was in a cheerful mood. Viren was confused that night, ready to shower his questions upon him when he saw his brother.
Virat smiled up at him as they stood on the terrace.
"Kya hua.. Ithne khush ho?" Viren asked.
"I met Dr.Riddhima.. Bas ek baar Maanvi se milna chahtaa hoon.. "
"Kya karega milke?"
"Patha nahi.. But I wanna meet her.. Ab Hrishikesh jaana hoga.. Plzz bhai can you manage? I know Swanini bua aur Dadaji- "
"Paglaagaya hai kya... woh tujhe maardenge.. "
Virat made a face. Viren sighed.
"Theek hai.. I'll manage.. "
The brothers shared a hug before calling off the night.
~ ~ Hrishikesh, the next morning
Maanvi woke up with a smile. She was feeling better, the early mornings were her favorite.
It was half past six in the morning, she quickly showered. Wearing her favorite dress, the one Virat admired before.. she glanced at her reflection only to find Virat in there.
She rubbed her eyes while sitting in front of her dressing table. She can see him, his image.. She was shocked for a moment.
"Tumhari parchayi mere dil mein humesha se hai Viraat.. aur ab har jagah dikhai de rahi hai.. "
Virat ( the reflection) smiled at her.
"Jaante ho.. Tumse milne ka, baat karne ka bahut man kartaa hai.. lekin.. Jo kehna chahti hoon.. Nahi keh sakti.. Is janam mein toh nahin.. " her eyes glistened with unshed tears.
"Aur tumhe kya lagtaa hai.. Ki main tumhe ithne aasaani se jaane doongi? Nahin.. Main tumse yeh zaroor kahoongi.. Agle janam mein.. Ki.. Main bhi tumse bahut pyar karti hoon.. Bahut zyada.. " she chuckled a bit, wiping the tears and caressing Virat's cheek on the mirror.
"Ab is janam mein toh ithni khush kismat toh nahi hoon na mein.. Isliye nahi kehpayi.. I'm sorry Virat.. Maine tumhe bahut chot pahunchaya hoga aur- "
Maanvi stopped in mid sentence as she heard her Beeji's voice.
"Virat beta.. Kab aaye ho tum?"
Maanvi's eyes widened as she eyed Beeji's image in the mirror beside Virat. She was talking to him, did this mean- Oh!
She turned around and there he was standing teary-eyed, his eyes boring into her ones.
Virat Vadhera was really there and he had listened to her babbling!! She was doomed.
"Bas abhi aaya tha Beeji.. Aapko koi pareshani toh nahi na?"
Maanvi turned away, unable to meet his eyes.
"Are nahi nahi beta.. Chalo.. Fresh up ho jaa.. phir aaram se baat karenge.. "

VirMaan by the river. It started raining. She ran.. But Viratcaught her hand, clucting the umbrella in one hand. He was soking wet, as he shielded her from the rain urging her to move with him. His hair wet & all.. to Maanvi he never looked so handsome like he was at the moment.
AN :Bahut sardi ho gayi hai mujhe.. gala kharab ho gaya hai.. ugh! This is why I hate rainy season. Pathetic!
