The new action taken is that one cannot create another ID from the same comp for a certain time limit. They are not disclosing what that limit is. However, it would restrict the MID problem to a great extent.

The second step they've taken is that Newbies are restricted to a maximum of 10 posts per day. That means a newbie can't start spamming the forum with multiple threads, links etc. Even if a newbie uses the full 10 posts daily quota, it would take them a maximum of 5 days to bypass those restrictions.

Other suggestions under consideration are that newbies be restricted from sending PMs and that newbies be restricted from posting on articles and celeb pages till they've achieved a minimum of 100 posts in the forums.

All sane restrictions in my opinion and it helped a lot to see a clean forum today, when I logged in. The activity on the first page would attest to the fact that I'm not alone in this.

While I definitely note a distinct difference in this week's state of things in forum compared to previous ones, I would still point out, only adopting new system for newbies is not enough.

We have seen groupbies, more established members and even a Viewbie posting inappropriate posts in this forum and even flouting I-F COC. So active moderation is always needed. And I hope it's there from now on (provided the forum keeps alive!).

Only restrictions on newbies are not enough.

The restrictions on newbies are site-wide changes instituted by the admin team, more with a view to control celeb fan-pages I believe

Moderation on this forum is a different topic altogether and still remain unaddressed
