With Cocktail will Deepika be back in the game?

I was catching up with the promos of the upcoming movies including Cocktail. One star who stood out for me was Deepika in the promos of Cocktail. She oozes sex appeal so effortlessly without coming across as cheap. Added to that is her sunny personality which has a certain endearing appeal. Many actresses would have to try hard to do the wild child character she is playing(read PC). But DP just nails it. She overshadows SAK who is playing a role he can sleep walk thru. So far DP has been criticized for being a poor actress and focussing too much on her personal life. So will Cocktail finally push into the top 3 league from young, pretty face appeal she currently has(along with Sonam, Sonakshi and many others)? When she started out she was seen as the next big thing but she lost steam due to some bad career choices. So finally will we get the DP that was promised to us?

When was she ever out of the league? U urself named her competition, sonam and sonakshi...amongst them shes a shinning star.

I mean seriously, this is bollywood where katrina is considered Top actress.

So...cheers to deepikas decade long career regardless of her acting prowesses.

^^^But thats the problem. From she getting important roles in big banners people like Asin, Sonam, Sonakshi became her competition. She couldnt get into Kareena's league or the league Rani/PZ were before their downfall.

had you asked this right after the first trailer was aired i would have said HELL YEAH! but now i think she has competition from diana, she is stunning and from the trailers she has a good dialouge delivery unlike deepika who still needs to work harder on it! lets see

The biggest downfall she had was her personal life. She went was too focus on that one relationship that ruined her image. She made bad choice of doing deglam roles like KHJJS and Lafangey parindey when she was new. Actresses esablish themselves as pretty face first and than do roles. She got it wrong

but things are looking up since she got emraan's next. Can't wait for Cocktail

She is getting roles in films like LAK,YJHD,Chennai Express,KJO-Ekta film(Deepika is chirping about the last 2 in all her interviews)..which were coveted by Kat & Bebo..

She has too many films in hand..

What can Cocktail do for her..give her bragging rights?

If she performs well..she will get more roles..

I am also keenly watching..what movies Kat,Bebo PC are signing after their Khan/100 crore films

Keep getting better work is the only yardstick to measure which way the career is going..

who acts better..who gets bigger hits is rubbish..

Who gets the next best film is what matters...

Doubt if the top actresses want to do any of Sonakshi,Asin or Sonam's or even Anushka's films

I agree with you, in that she is what truly truly stands out to me in the Cocktail trailers...

I feel like she's massively worked on herself, and if she can manage to show herself as a better actress in a pretty chilled out masala movie, then that'd be awesome for her =D

But one thing I love about her choices of movies is that she usually has an important role that matters to the movie. Some actresses get big hits but they have only songs to play. When she's doing an action movie, she does the action stunts instead of the hero doing it all on their own

If I am not wrong all her roles apart from LAK were rejects of other actresses. KK bowed out of CE and the EH films while Kat bowed out of YJHD...both reasons were personal-KK will be busy with her wedding and Kat didnt want to work with Ranbir. So DP got those roles as the rest ie Sonam etc are really pathetic. The last time she was the first choice for a big film in a significant film was for LAK. So the biggest problem with her career has been lately she only gets rejects. Not very good news for a star who aspires to be in the top league.

currently the ones who are the first preferences for any movie are kat, bebo and pc to some extent. Vidya i wont include as she is a niche in her own, what others play she cant play and what she plays they cant dream to play! But apart from these the rest are always remembered when these 3 above arent available! so yes i agree its not a very good news for some one aspiring to be in top league when all she gets is the rejected stock!
