Yash's behaviour rash and irresponsible

How can he promise the poor girl that she will marry her boyfriend, especially as the family seem to be very dangerous and unreasonable?Does he even have a plan, except for spouting all that romantic jargon? Was that supposed to convine a family who seem to be have a God complex and seem to thrive on old fashioned, archaic values...I thought he had more sense than that
