Seems like actors and cousins Kareena Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor are all set to give each other some takkar at the BO.
Though their films are not releasing on the same date, according to the trade, films releasing on back-to-back Fridays are competition as well!
So, while Ranbir's Barfi releases on September 14, Kareena's Heroinehits right next week on September 21, which also happens to be her birthday. "It's not a direct clash, but the films are most likely to affect each other's business for sure," says trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
If insiders are to be believed then both the actors are not too thrilled about this face-off of sorts either. Says a source, "Personally they both may not be on backslapping terms as cousins, but the fact is that both Kareena and Ranbir are extremely fond of each other's work as actors. So they are obviously not too delighted about their releases being so close to each other. Both are confident of their products, so there's no worry, but they even want each other's films to do well."aww...🤗
The source adds, that neither of them was expecting this clash of sorts,but then the original release dates have been changed much since first announced.
"Right now, it would not be a recommended move to change the release dates any more, considering it will be the third change for Barfi," shares the source.
Incidentally, both the films' release dates had been postponed from their original ones.
While Heroinewas initially set to release on September 14, it then got postponed to 21st. Similarly there was buzz that Barfi was apparently first postponed from July to avoid a clash with actress Deepika Padukone'sCocktail on Ranbir's insistence.
The film was then pushed to August 31. But when the producers decided to release the Akshay Kumar-starrer Joker on that date instead, Barfi got further pushed to September 14, a slot that had opened up after Heroinewas shifted to the next week and Joker advanced. Now, apparently both the filmmakers Madhur Bhandarkar (Heroine) and Anurag Basu (Barfi) are reluctant on any more date changes, so it's unlikely that the clash can be avoided between the two Kapoor scions.
