Chapter 51
Anjali limped her way through the crowd to find Karan.
She felt bad she had hurt him... something she had never done to anyone.
There he was, standing alone and having his dinner.
Anjali's heart constricted with symptahty...she saw in him a loner in need of love and understanding...somewhat like her...
'I am sorry,' Anjali said quietly when she went near Karan.
For a moment it looked like Karan would turn away. But he did not. He tried to smile but failed as his eyes still blazed with a certain kind of sadness.
'You are eating too less. Wait I will get you some of the things in the menu which you have not taken,' Anjali said and rushed off with his plate, not giving Karan a choice.
When she got back the whole plate was spilling with food.
'Are you planning to kill me with over eating?' Karan popped an eyebrow at her.
'Not a bad idea,' Anjali smiled.
'And if I fall sick due to over eating, who will take care of me? I am alone you know,' Karan teased.
'We will see when that happens. I vouch for the quality of the food by the caterers' Anjali said.
'But just in case something happens,' Karan persisted.
'Then I will take care of you,' Anjali promised.
'Really? Easier said than done. I will take you up on it,' Karan continued his banter.
'I never go back on my word. If you fall sick I will be there to take care of you,' Anjali promised, knowing fully well this was not possible as the food was from the best caterers in Delhi.
'Anjali Singh Raizada, never say never,' Karan said and ate the food which suddenly felt more delicious to him.
Anjali watched him as he ate, suddenly feeling a lightness in her heart that she had not felt all evening.
'Khushi do you realize in hardly a month and 15 days we will be parents?' Arnav said.
'Yeah feels strange doesn't it? You and I created a life Arnav,' she said emotionally, grasping his strong hands.
'Our love created a new life,' Arnav corrected and Khushi blushed.
'How does it feel to be a Daddy soon Arnav?' Khushi asked.
'I am excited but worried. Worried about you. Worrried about the pain you have to go through. I can't see you in pain Khushi,' Arnav said.
'I know it will be painful. But I don't mind. It is your baby I will be having. That itself is reward for the pain.' Khushi said.
'I will be with you all through Khushi. I promise,' Arnav said.
'I won't let you out of my sight either. Having you with me gives me strength,' she confessed.
'Yeah let's practice everything with the first baby. By the time we have the next and next and next, we will be perfect at all the things needed,' Arnav teased.
'Next and next and next? No way! Just one more,' Khushi said.
'Ok let's only practice. We will have one more, but we should practice as if we need to have 5 more,' Arnav teased her mercilessly tracing her palm and making her blush a crimson red.
NK and La had slipped away from the function. NK had suggested a bike ride to cheer Lavanya. When Lavanya agreed she had not expected anything as crazy as the ride NK was giving her.
He zipped through the streets and ran over the pot holes and overtook other riders and twirled and turned and whizzed again.
By the time they stopped, Lavaya was holding on to her dear life.
Al through the ride she had screamed out of fear and excitement.
When they finally stopped Lavanya was gasping for air.
'Are you nuts. We could have died,' Lavanya shouted.
'Well La, this is what is called life! What is the use of a safe life?' NK asked.
'I would rather be safe than sorry,' Lavanya said.
'But then you should experience such adventures,' NK said grinning at her fright.
'What if I don't like such adventures?' Lavanya asked.
'Then you are just plain chicken hearted and don't know how to enjoy life,' NK teased.
I don't care for such enjoyment. You shouldn't either. You could be dead some day with all these antics,' Lavanya said.
'Better to die after having lived a life you want rather than live a boring life you don't want," NK said.
'Don't talk about death as if it is a game too NK,' Lavanya said.
'It is not a game, but I like to live life with the thrills even if it means dying young,' NK said and immediately Lavanya kept a finger on his lips.
'Don't talk about dying NK. People like you who are full of life have so much to give life, unlike me,' she said.
'Why do you think you can't give much to life La? You give it a lot too in your own way. Look how much you do for ASR and Khushi despite what you went through. Don't under estimate yourself,' NK said. For the first time in life,
Lavanya felt valued for who she was just the way she was...
After the guests left Arnav and Khushi retired to bed.
Arnav lay in Khushi's lap, his head close to her womb. Today the function had brought in the anticipation of the baby to him with further acuteness.
He felt a kick on Khushi's baby bump making him jerk.
'khushi why did our baby kick just now?' Arnav asked curiously.
'Perhaps he/she is excited Daddy is nrear,' Khushi smiled.
'Or he/she is excited that the time to see the world is coming fast,' Arnav smiled.
'Maybe both. Arnav I am scared suddenly. Hope things go fine,' Khushi said nervously.
Arnav sat up worried, 'Khushi nothing will happen to you. I won't let anything happen to you' he said passionately.
'I am not worried about me at all. I am worried about the baby. This baby is the best gift i can give you. I want everything to be just fine,' Khushi said.
Arnav said 'You and the baby will be fine. Don't mind me saying this. The baby comes second to you. I want you to be fine,' Arnav said and hugged her close, vowing to himself that nothing could and would ever touch her...
Arnav Singh Raizada was known to challenge destiny and destiny is known to play its own games...
