CHAPTER 7

Arnav and Khushi were on the way to the temple.

"Arnav do you know where they have reached?"

"Khushi are you kidding? I'm driving here and you are asking me?"

"Ok.I'll call her"

She picked up the phone to call Anji. But she did not answer the call. Same was the case with Lavanya.

Arnav suddenly stopped the car.

"What happened?"

"I think there was an accident."

The road was blocked. The vehicles started moving very slow and Arnav moved the vehicle along.

"Which vehicle ?" Arnav asked while driving.

"A black car"

"I didn't ask the colour, I asked the model"

"Arnav, its me Khushi not Anji, so better don't ask me".

They reached the Temple and started searching for the girls. They were nowhere to be seen.

"Khushi try calling them. Haven't they reached? They should have by now"

"Arnav, lets go inside, they might be there"

"No Khushi she told me that they will be waiting outside."

He took out his phone and started dialing. Still there was no answer. Finally after trying for the umpteenth time the call was answered.

"Hello Anji?"

"Hello" A male voice answered.

"Who is this." Arnav asked with a concern on his face. Khushi looked on

"I'm Senior Inspector Khan may I know who is speaking?"

"Its me Arnav Singh Raizada"

"Mr.Raizada, does the black BMW , registered DL-02-MN-4343 belong to you?"

"Yes sir, please tell me what happened. Is everything alright?"

"No. Actually it has met with an accident"

"What about Anjali and Lavanya? How are they? Are they fine?"

Khushi was tensed to see Arnav in this state and was worried for them.

"Sorry Mr. Raizada..."

The phone fell from his hands. Tears were rushing. Khushi picked up the phone.

"Hello , Mr. Raizada are you still there???" Mr. Khan asked

"sir tell me what happened. I'm Khushi"

"OK Khushi. actually among the two women, one of them is in a critical condition and we have shifted her to the city hospital, I'm sorry about the other one"

Khushi was shocked out of her wits. She cut the call and looked at Arnav who was sobbing hard.

"Arnav, we need to go to the city hospital."

Arnav hugged Khushi and was sobbing hard.

"Anji, she let me, how could she?"

"Arnav, they are not sure about them. We need to be there. And one of them is still alive. I'm sure our Anji will be fine. But you. Lets go Arnav."

She noticed that Arnav hadn't thought of Lavanya till now. He was concerned only for Anji. She then dropped the thought, since this was not the correct time or that. She instead called her parents and asked them to be at the hospital without telling them the reason.

Khushi made Arnav sit beside her as she drove the car. She stopped in front of the hospital and dragged Arnav along with her to the reception.

"Excuse me mam, Highway accident case?"

The receptionist called an attendant and asked him to lead these two.

The attendant lead them to the Inspector who was in front of the Operation Theatre.

"Mr. Raizada?"

"Yes sir" Khushi said.

"Sir where are they?"

"One of them is undergoing immediate operation, why don't you identify the body by then"

Arnav was lost. Khushi's heart scrunched hearing the statement. The inspector lead them to the Mortuary.

"Mam, Sir please"

Arnav refused. He nodded his head in a NO. Khushi knew that it would be better if he didn't see it.

She went inside. Her eyes were closed. The attendant took the white cloth off the body revealing the face. Khushi looked away.

"Mam , please look and identify the person"

Finally Khushi opened her eyes. The lively bright and caring face had now gone pale. Everything lost. Khushi stood still in front of the body of the girl whom she knew only from the last 3 days. It was Lavanya. She was now gone. She felt sad for the girl who was ready to sacrifice her love for her. Even then she felt peace thinking the fact that her Anji was still alive. There was hope.

Arnav was standing outside the Mortuary gazing at Khushi who was still inside. She was now walking out. She didn't know how to tell him that the girl he had loved and was about to marry was now no more.

Tears were flowing out of Arnav as if they would never stop.

"Arnav, it is Lavanya. She has left us"

There was no response from him. He was in shock still.

She pulled him towards the OT. Anjali was inside battling for life.

The doctor came out.

"We need blood. Her bood group is AB+ve." The doctor said.

"Doctor how is she?" Khushi asked

"Sorry , we cant still say anything. Her condition is still critical. We need blood soon"

Suddenly Garima and Shashi reached.

"Maa, Anji need blood. Doctor she is AB+ve."

Garima went with the doctor. While Shashi stayed with the two. Khushi had never expected this. Arnav hadn't broken down like this after the death of his parents.

After about an hour Garima came out. Khushi was trying to console Arnav who haven't uttered a word till now. After 2 hours the doctor came out. This time Arnav stood up and walked to the doctor. Khushi and Shashi followed.

"She is now out of danger but.."

"But what doctor ?" Arnav almost yelled.

"If she doesn't gain consciousness in 24 hours she may slip into coma"

Arnav clutched Khushi's hands for support.

After about 4 hours to their shock Anjali regained consciousness.

Khushi and Arnav went to meet her.

"Doctor where am I?"

"Anji you are in the hospital. Look we are here." Arnav said moving near her bed."

"Who are you?"

"Sorry to say Mr. Raizada actually I think she has lost her temporarily."

This was it for Arnav. He got another shock and to her shock he fainted. Now he was taken for a check up. Khushi couldn't control this anymore. Too many things were happening today for her.

After about 2 hours Arnav regained consciousness. Khushi was there by his side. He did not talk or cry or do anything. He kept gazing at the ceiling.

"Doctor what has happened to him?" Khushi asked seeing his state.

"I'm sorry to say Miss Gupta, he has lost his mental stability.

Tears which Khushi had managed to control till now ran down her cheeks.

Garima and Shashi were there to control their daughter.

It was all upto Khushi now to take care of her best friends. It was only her who was to bring both Arnav and Anjali back to normal. So she controlled herself and became ready for the task ahead.

Thats it for now.

So how was the twist.

Everything was so fast isn't it?
