Today my analysis is going to centre around one question.
WHY?
Shobha
I got so late writing this analysis because I couldn't for the life of me think what Shobha was doing today, when just a few days ago (yesterday in PV time) she had given Aarti such sensible advice on her relationship with Yash and made her priorities seem clear: a woman who is responsible for three children cannot break down like this. And today again she was back to the twilight zone (courtesy Red) and it made me wonder why? The answer is really simple and I am surprised that I didn't realise sooner. She went into the twilight zone today for the same reason she did last time: Prashant. Shobha is manifesting her guilt over what Prashant did to Aarti, time and again into a desperation for her to fall in love with Yash and in short be "over" Prashant.
Even though Prashant was never mentioned, he silently permeated every dialogue. If Aarti does indeed get kicked out of the house in 3 months, that means that Prashant's curse comes true and Shobha loses...and Shobha is refusing to lose! Heart of hearts she knows that this has to happen gradually, that Aarti and Yash are doing just fine in their stage of mutual respect and parenting of their kids. But when she heard SP's proclamation, she panicked, just like she panicked the day Prashant showed up at her front door. And to top off her exasperation, Aarti confirmed the belief that love only happens once...again agreeing with what Prashant said that day.
We know that Shobha has a habit of believing what she wants to believe and convincing Aarti of the same, that day it was that Prashant was dead and today it was that Aarti was in love with Yash. Without an iota of sensitivity for her daughter's condition she steamrollered her attempts to express her turmoil and boxed her feelings neatly into a label that Aarti is not ready for...and then she convinced herself. Typical Shobha.

Vidhi
Vidhi is guilty about her AKJ plan flopping so royally, the fact that Aarti was not even angry with her and Aarti seems to be back at square one. She seems too dense at the moment to recognise how square one itself has changed form and is not the place of darkness and confusion it used to be. And so she wants to "make it up" to Aarti by "helping" her understand her own feelings. To her, Aarti going to Arpita's shraadh was a step back in the Aarti-Yash relationship which she desperately wants to see progress for Aarti's sake so that she can be guilt free about plan AKJ, and for the more obvious desire of seeing Yash happy again. But Vidhi can't help unless Aarti confides in her the way she did after Palak's outburst over the room so she is trying to tease this confession out of her so she can help her win Yash in a brand new, plan of utter idiocy! 😃
Prateek
He is doing this for the same reason that he took those stealthy videos of Yash and Arpita, performed that tasteless skit at the sangeet and made all those preparations for Yash and Aarti's SR. He is caught up in the romance of the situation and can't seem to sense the line between real and imagination. Yash and Arpita were fascinating to him because he must have been a teenager at that time and they were a romantic married couple. Now he is married, but the romance of Yash and Aarti's situation is something one step ahead in his mind. Also, he likes to assume responsibility for this relationship as he initiated it.
Finally, he is using this as a rosy, romantic escape from his real life problems, including one unhappy wife and one unmoving father. He promised Paridhi he would talk to SP once he came back and as far as I can see their have been a host of perfect moments to do this. But no, instead Prateek is busy plotting Aarti's acceptance of her questionably existent feelings, because it is so much prettier and more exciting to deal with other people's love lives than deal with your own real ones. This kid needs to grow up!

It is pretty clear by this time that Gayatri is very attached to Yash but also aware of his moods, his likes and dislikes and his stubbornness. For her at that moment, it was important for Yash to get better at whatever cost and SP was held up on his mission cupid at a moment when Yash was ill. Of course Gayatri could to well to chill out but SP is employing the same faulty tactic with her as he is with Yash. Forcing them not to do as their heart tells them is only going to make them more resentful and rebellious. Gayatri is going to have an outburst one of these days, I am telling you, because SP is pushing her far enough that the differences between them are becoming apparent. Gayatri wants her son to be happy...SP wants his son to be fruitful. And so with a heavy heart, Gayatri hands the balm over to Aarti and asks her to take care of Yash.
But I really liked the way Aarti handled this in the morning. Instead of shunning Gayatri from the situation, she allowed her to be part of the process of taking care of Yash and this is what Gayatri wants essentially. She doesn't want to cook but she likes to be told that she organised the menu. Similarly, she knows she can't sit by Yash's bedside all night, but she likes to have her moment of authority. If Yash had gone for his jog, Gayatri would have felt snubbed once again but now she feels like her word matters and it is not lost on her that Aarti was part of that. The wicked witch is melting.

If this is not love, what is it? This is what Shobha asked the scurrying Aarti's back when she rushed to the bedside of a sick Yash. Well, I have more respect for Aarti's feelings than Shobha does so I am not going to conclude anything but only speculate on what Aarti is feeling right now. I think that in her mind, though she hadn't started loving Yash yet, there was a spring of hope that one day, maybe she could and maybe he could love her back. It was the tiniest voice and yet it was there and could not be denied. Yash's proclamation at the temple sealed that little spring and Aarti felt its loss which is why she was a little shaky when she was talking to Shobha today. After all, her hope spring had been brought to life by Shobha herself and even if Aarti knew that it could never be, she didn't want to break her mother's heart so she gave the answer that rung true at this moment, which she could express and articulate with confidence. Yash and I respect each other. That's all.
As for the care and concern for Yash, they were nothing but Aarti's humanity which comes from every fibre of her being. Aarti deals with her own pain by helping others. That is her best medicine and in Yash she found a needy patient, not just today with the fever but in general. He needs the balm that she can provide as much as she needs to provide it. And now Aarti won't overload Ansh with balm he doesn't need and Yash won't seek balm in his daughter's grief. It is a beautiful relationship of interdependence and I hope they ignore the noise and let it grow in all its natural glory!

Yash himself is being nursed back to physical and emotional health without him really sensing it. They say you fall in love with people who make you do things you never did before. Does eating daliya count, you think? I found it so heartening today that Yash was being such a baby for Aarti. It shows that in a subtle way, he is opening up to her. He is showing her the sides of him that are not perfect and godly but are human, childish, impulsive and unreasonable and giving her the chance to accept him for what he is. That conversation at the temple has done wonders for their comfort level because suddenly Aarti no longer feels awkward. She has a place and she knows it so she fits in smoothly and takes the reigns, with no help or advice from anyone. At the same time, Yash is in such a state of vulnerability that he can't keep her out. He is not letting her in, exactly, but she has very cleverly lowered his defenses and then stormed into his heart.
I think the fever is symbolic for a battle that is raging within Yash. You get a fever when your body is fighting something alien and trying to expel it. Yash's mind too is fighting the unhealthy grief for Arpita and trying to expel it, which is causing him to get sick, and be susceptible to the rain when Aarti is fit and fine. Again the rain comes as a messenger for Yash (his own meghadhutam!) to instigate his body into this fight and create this raging fire within him. The fire was lighted when Aarti emerged as Arpita and Yash mistook her and it is finally burning out with this fever and with Aarti's help.
I loved how Aarti is helping him fight the fever, but without crossing any of his own lines. She does not force him to take medicine, or steam but keeps coming up with ways to help him in spite of himself. She stays awake all night, helping him heal and helping this fire to die down so he can get some relief and he doesn't even know it, which is the best way to help Yash. In the morning he once again insists that nothing is wrong with him, insists on carrying on as before and though Gayatri tries to stop him she cannot do it alone. The joint force of mother and wife are needed to make Yash tacitly admit that he is not alright. This makes me think that maybe Gayatri has had the right instincts with Yash but has not been allowed to exercise them, or has been sidestepped by Yash himself. But with Aarti as her support, I think she too will emerge as a strong catalyst to Yash's healing process. Though she couldn't do anything herself, she sees immediately when Aarti is able to get through and I am sure she will support anything Aarti does if it helps Yash.
