CHAPTER 6
Next morning when Khushi woke up she was having a big headache. She ignored it first then when she thought about the day's plan she thought that this headache will help her avoid going to the temple. Also what was the need of her going there afterall she was not a part of that family.
She roamed around the house in her night clothes. She had a quick bathe when Garima forced her to. She didn't go to RM to meet Anji even. She knew Anji would be needing her but she was helpless. If she went there now she would not be able to control herself and end up opening her heart out. But she knew she couldn't afford to do it. She needed time to overcome all this.
She kept avoiding Anji's calls the whole day. She spent time reading alone in her room. Garima brought her lunch which she avoided. About 2:30 as Khushi lay on her bed she heard Anji's voice.
She shut her book and pretended to sleep.
"Aunty,Khush kahan hein?"
She knew Anji was irritated with her. Thats why she addressed her as Khush instead of Khushi. they both called her Khush only when they were irritated with her whereas they called Anjali as Anjali when they were irritated with her.
"Anji beta actually she is not feeling well. She is having headache thats why she haven't even stepped out of her room."
"What she is not well and Aunty you didn't inform us? Let me call bhai"
"no Anji beta, Why are you disturbing Arnav bitwa for this. BTW Khushi is still sleeping. I don't even know whether she has had her lunch or not."
Khushi was thankful to her mother for stopping Anjali rom calling Arnav.
"Let me go and meet her"
Khushi closed her eyes. Anji was coming here. She hid the book under the pillow and acted to be asleep.
"Khushi??? Are you asleep?"
Khushi turned the other side.
"Khushi , now get up dear."
Khushi knew if she pretended to sleep more then Anji would find it out that she is not asleep.
"Anji, when did you come?" Khushi made a sleepy voice. "I came just now Khushi. are you ok.?"
"I'm Anji don't worry. Just a slight headache"
"And why didn't you call me or bhai?"
"Anji I'm not well and was sleeping till now. You came and woke me up and you are asking me why I didn't inform you ?"
"Sorry Khushi. hey, you haven't had lunch? Come on eat!"
"No Anji, I'm not hungry!"
"Khushi whats wrong with you? You are not hungry? I wont believe this statement when you and bhai tells me this. You both are not hungry, its impossible"
"Anji.."
"Khushi I don't want to hear anything . wait I'll make you eat"
Anji then fed Khushi.
"Khushi now take your medicine. You have to be ok before 4. We have to leave by 4:30. Bhai told he will come there directly."
"Nahi Anji, I wont be able to come. I'll talk to Arnav later about that. I'm not at all feeling well"
"But Khushi .."
"I wont be ... please...next time sure I will come!!!"
"Ok then. Take rest. I'll tell bhai"
Anjali took her phone and called Arnav. But Khushi prayed really hard that Arnav should not pick up the phone and Khushi's prayers were answered. Arnav did not pick up the call.
She got a message.
TAKE THE MERCEDES
"What does bhai think, that I'm calling him to know which car to take? I like black colour for cars. He took the black Mercedes and wants me to go in white? No way!! I'll take the BMW"
Khushi just smiled.
By around 4:00 pm Anjali left Khushi and got ready to go with Lavanya.
Lavanya was not much surprised to Khushi's absence. She knew Khushi would be avoiding being with them and it will be very difficult for her.
She decided to tell Arnav about what Khushi felt for him, even though she had promised Khushi that she wont tell him. But today she had the opportunity to say to him. Khushi was also not here.
"Bhabhi where are you lost? Get into the car!"
"Sorry Anjali. I was wondering where Khushi is?"
"oh she is not well. Would you mind driving. I'm not in a mood to"
"Sure Anjali, I will"
"Thanks"
Lavanya took the driver's seat as Anjali shifted to the passenger seat. Anjali got a phone call. It was Arnav.
"Anji why did you call me so many times? Aren't you driving?"
"No bhai, bhabhi is driving"
Eventhough he had asked her to call Lavanya bhabhi, he felt it odd. He wanted Anji to call Khushi as her bhabhi.
"And Khushi?"
"Bhai actually she was the reason I called you. She is not well so she hasn't come with us. She is resting at home. I called you so that if you could convince her to come, later after seeing her condition, I thought it will be better if she rests."
"Ok. BTW where have you reached?"
"bhai we have covered half the distance. Better you catch up fast."
"Ok. I'll be there soon"
He cut the call. He had promised Anji that he would be there soon, but he wanted to meet Khushi, his Khushi. so he thought of going home first. He went to RM, freshened up and then went to GH.
"Uncle today you are home early?" Arnav asked Shashi who was sitting in the living room sipping his tea.
"Haan Arnav, actually Khushi was not well, I missed her and so came early. You are also early isn't it?"
"Yeah uncle actually Khushi ditched us. She was to come with us but she told she is not well."
"She was not well. But now she is fine." Little did he know that his daughter was not interested to go and thats the main reason that she made up this excuse.
"Thats good news uncle ,I think we can go together then. I just came to see her"
"She's in her room. Take her to the temple"
"Ok uncle"
"Khushi.. Khushii"
"Arnav???"
"Yeah me, cant I come here?"
"You were to go to the temple right then why are you here?"
"You also were to come with us isn't it? If you are here then why cant I be here?"
"Arnav you and me. Its entirely different. You need to be there."
"Eeven you need to be there"
"I'm not well Arnav."
"No excuses dear. Uncle told me you are completely fine. And even if you are not then you will be when you come with us. Now just get ready."
Khushi knew that there was no use arguing with him. She cant win over him alone. Only if Anji was here. She went to her cupboard and took out a lavender salwaar.
"Dont tell me you are going to wear that Khushi!!!"
"Why not?"
"I hate that colour"
"But I don't."
"Khushi do you think I don't get you? You are trying to irritate me so that I will leave you here and go alone na? Don't worry today I'm not planning to go alone you will come with me and ... wear this"
He took out a baby yellow suit for her. She knew he had caught her. She accepted defeat and got dressed and came out. Arnav was pleased to see her in this dress. Only if he had the courage to tell her what he felt for her, they would have been together. But he buried the thought inside and pulled her along as he went out of the house waving to Shashi and Garima.
