CH 5-Darkness and Zombies
Exhausted was the only word that would perfectly describe Khushi after a long day at work, she dragged herself up to the elevator and stepped inside, too tired to even punch the buttons. She inserted the key into the keyhole, wanting to do nothing more than plop herself on the bed and doze off and then wake up again thinking about him, seriously her world was a mess these days.
She did not know how long she had been asleep but when she woke up she realized she was still in her work clothes and she hadn't even bothered to remove her shoes. She walked to the kitchen to make herself some coffee, the only thing that brought back a little energy. She leapt on to her sofa trying to get herself to forget a certain someone. Suddenly the lights went off, the tv was blank and she was just sitting there staring ahead into nothingness.'Urghhh' she groaned, she had heard that there was some repair going on, the watchman had told her in the morning that they are gonna be cut off from power the entire night, she had forgotten to prepare herself for the darkness. She was exhausted and all she could think about how she was going to walk all the way up to her bed and now she sat on the sofa absolutely terrified to make a move and get into her safe bed, scared that she might wake up some non existent monster.
It was around 8 pm and Khushi felt like smacking herself for not getting rid of her fear of the dark. She was a grown woman and here she was cowering with fear, unable to face the dark.
Khushi was broken from her endless ranting by a knock on the door, this petrified her even more, who could it be at this hour of the night she wondered. 'Khushi' she heard him calling, she sighed knowing that it was Arnav and not some zombie on the run. Then she was angry, 'why the hell was he so intent on ruining her life?' she asked herself. 'Khushi, open the door' he yelled. 'Go away' she yelled back. She waited for a few minutes but he was not giving it a rest, the endless knocking was driving her nuts.
She slowly walked up to the door wanting to bang it on his head and ask him to go to hell. She flung the door open, glaring up at him holding a torch with an annoying smile on his face.
'What' she screamed.
There she stood boiling with rage, devising ways to end my life. 'Ummm I taught you would be scared' he replied with a feeble smile.
She did not know weather to be swept away by his concern or kick him for daring to interfere again.' I don't need your help Mr. Raizada and I am a grown woman who is very much capable of looking after myself'. 'I know Khushi' he sighed, 'I just taught that you might be terrified, I'm sorry I guess things have changed' He turned to leave and then turned back with a smirk ' but are you sure you can make it back to bed without banging into some half dead zombie lurking around?'.
She was shooting daggers at him and he realized he needed to stop or he would push her too far and this would make getting her back even more difficult. He quickly changed the topic and handed her his torch and whispered' I'm sorry, I just came along to give you the torch, make sure you get into bed safe' he replied, smiled warmly and went into his room next door.
Khushi did not know how he switched so fast from being annoying to considerate. She walked back to her apartment, using his torch to guide her and snuggled into bed clutching the torch close to her heart. She was soon fast asleep.
