Actor Aamir Khan continues to receive accolades for his debut show on TV: Satyamev Jayate.

One episode after the other, Aamir has perhaps managed to do what no other actor has done so far: create a national stir. He has caused state governments to take action against illegal practices.
So when Aamir chose to do an expose on the malpractices in the Indian medical system, little did he know the huge impact that episode would have. Although certain doctors were angered by Khan's expose which they felt was portrayed incorrectly, our politicians are mighty impressed with the actor.

Aamir Khan will now makes his way to the Indian parliament on Thursday morning (21st June 2012) where he has been invited by Rajya Sabha MP, Shanta Kumar who belongs to the BJP party, as told to sources. (Shanta Kumar heads the parliamentary standing committee on commerce).
Sources further reveal that the actor has been invited to share the research he and his team did to expose the level of corruption and unethical practices adopted by the medical fraternity.

No matter what critics have to say about the show, Aamir Khan through Satyamev Jayate continues to open the public eye and stir the government to take action. A smart way of having a political impact without being a politician. Great going Aamir!

Good job Aamir.

But the show director or the research team leader should be heading to the parliament. They would know more about the issues and able to present it in a appropriate way. Aamir, after all, is just the mouthpiece

Amen, the research team lead would be in a much better position to answer the questions.

However do you think our MPs will make an effort to hear out someone who is not celebrity?

Just as I expected. Credit chor Aamir is back. Aamir's ultimate aim is RS nomination. And if the netas are really serious in listening to issues why dont they speak to the doctors like Devi Shetty and the one from Rajasthan who are more aware of the malpractices that go on in their profession and solutions for the same instead of an actor hosting a show.

I... dont really think there'll be much impact 😆
Just be telecasting stuff on TV, the doctors and govt might react, and might say that they're going to act on it... but, it once again comes back to the fact that "human mind is corrupt".
Last month, I read in Civil Services Chronicle that the govt has set up few groups to go on checks and file cases against any clinic(grass root level - the sub-tertiary medical sector) that goes against the provisions of PNDT act(Pre-Natal and Pre-conception Diagnostic Act). One has to reach to SUCH grass-root level to cause a stir. And YET, inspite of it being mandatory for these "squads" to keep a check on different clinics, we still see cases of female feoticide!
Anyone can showcase the level of corruption going on India. Infact, if one reads newspapers everyday and reads other magazines, the newspapers will give you some insight on how corruption works 😆 Some other magazines will give you tremendous knowledge about corruptions and what not.
Anyways, I'm glad Aamir is showing such things, atleast kids and his fans can watch and gain some knowledge perhaps may even cultivate an interest in social issues :):) But his show aint gonna stir anything 😆 Govt and docs will react, but it'll only remain a reaction... because like I said what the "squads" cannot do at grass-root levels, hw will Aamir bring a change in the society. At the most, people will gain knowledge :) life goes on and on and on...

Thats very true- changes need to happen at grass root levels for it to take effect. All Aamir and his show can do is highlight an issue, make people aware of it.

But that is not enough for things to change. For e.g- the Bill on Female Fotecide got passed after the show, but thats not what really counts. It is more important that it is implement properly. And for that to happen the judiciary, police, doctors and a change in mindset needs to happen which requires changes in grass root levels.

Changes are permanent and more effective in a social structure, when it is bottom up and not top down.

Bill on Female Feoticide got passed after the show?! 😕 ..that's not true. I'm sorry but who told you that?
PCPNDT Act is as old as 1994. I havent watched the show, so I'm not sure where you got that info from.
