If we go with what we are seeing, the promo was a set-up - part of the seduction of us and Sugni into believing TVS is sincere. It did not mean that these two were going to be the leads or that he was going to marry her - all a set up - it meant that she would give into him whether physically we do not know but emotionally, yes.

Hello Piu and Anu. I apologize for mixing up your names! Shelly here jumping into your conversation...hope you don't mind.

I finally figured out what is wrong with the approach Vickram is taking with Sugni and my issue with the dance. His approach shows a his complete lack of respect for everything Sugni stands for and wants out of life.

Vickram is a man of the world, he is older, he is experienced and it is obvious he knows a
thing or two about love. He may even have been in love before. This was hinted by Adi
when they had their talk about women and his sister said something about if you had a wife...
Both times he quickly changed the topic. I digress..

He also knows what Sugni wants, she has explained a few times that she doesn't want to lead
the life of a bedni. She wants more from life. Not sure what the exact words she uses that her fight
is about not earning a living the wrong way. He knows she wants to get married and lead
a regular normal life. What does he do ' he wants her to get to know him he sets up the room for
seduction, romantic music, dance, candle lights. Normally when you're getting to know a guy
you sit and talk "what is your favourite colour" "what do you want out of life" "what did you study
at university" "do you want to settle in this village or do you want to move back to Delhi" "have
you been in love before" "how many children do you want" etc and etc

When she wants to know is this how you fall in love he gives her some romantic double talk
which can be interpreted in different ways. When she talks about marriage he tells her that it is just a
ritual and what they are doing an expression of love. There is only one reason a man talks to
a woman that way and it is to seduce her into making love'express her love physically.

It doesn't matter what culture you're from if a man falls in love with a woman he respects and supports
her views, her dreams, her hopes. He doesn't try to overwhelm her into doing what he want.
Especially a girl with Sugni's background. She is child of the custom she is rejecting and he is trying...

Then yesterday he again disregards her boundaries and his promise of giving her time to get to know him and fall in love with him and tries to get her to say she loves him.

All this shows his complete lack of respect for what she is and what she wants in life. All his wants is to get physical. I don't have a problem with the physicality but here it is as said creepy! Show his lecherous intentions.

oopps I rambled a bit not sure if I made my point.

Just caught your post and you make some really valid points that definitely present an excellent argument (and of course to my dismay since I really liked TVS) to suggest that there is a move on his part to get physical with her. In my view, he will and she will be wiling because she is in love with him...and then, she will realize that he has no intentions of getting married to her or settling down. He holds the views as Aditya said earlier on about "these" women. TVS might be a "good person" who is genuinely caring about others, he holds the same views as the other Takurs and willl not marry one of these women but he definitely has not problem in making one of them his mistress. He noted Sugini and has fallen for her over time and now he wants her - he really wants her...is he going against his own principles to be involved with one of the Bedini women?

While he is attracted to Sugini he is no different from the other Takurs and cannot have one of them as his wife. Sugni's mother's fears are therefore valid.

An interesting story and bolder take on this story would be to have Sugni become physically intimate with him only to find out he doesn't want to marry her. What a betrayal. Will she accept becoming his mistress or will she fight for the right to be his wife in the end.

To me, I would respect a Sugni who refused to go back to TVS after the betrayal, leave the haveli and find her way out of the town into the city and find her subah. If we see Sugni embark on another relationship, I hope it will NOT be with Aditya. Anyone else, but not hm.

But if we stick to our traditional desi style dramas, will we get an awakening in TVS? Vengeance from Sugni and how...that's what would make for an interesting drama. Aditya, Amrita - they can help her...but again, not S-A jodi - too gross.

Yes that was the point exactly coz..We see there so many dangerous hints of Vikram not being what he appears to be

He also knows what Sugni wants, she has explained a few times that she doesn't want to lead
the life of a bedni. She wants more from life. Not sure what the exact words she uses that her fight

Yes the dance was all about seduction...It was all about manipulating her into SURRENDER...There is desire in Vikram that he wants to get her completely and not only physically ...He could have fulfilled his physical desires otherwise too forcefully..But he chooses the other way round coz he wanted her complete submission with her whole heart along with her physical beingThis is even more dangerous..

It doesn't matter what culture you're from if a man falls in love with a woman he respects and supports
her views, her dreams, her hopes. He doesn't try to overwhelm her into doing what he want.

Shelly..I was not supporting his intentions..NEVER...but for me the scene could have been CREEPY if I had seen TVS in a positive light..From Day 1 there was something mysterious about him and as the show progressed my doubts got confirmed so when the scene came...The scene was a major turning point in the show..Which clearly revealed his intentions...
I don't think it was a ramble you exactly made your point...👏
My take is THE SCENE WAS NOT CREEPY as it was deliberately done to drop hints about TVS...But YES!! his intentions were WRONG!!The scene was aesthetically done ..They could have shown more but they subtly brought out the DANGEROUS INTENTIONS OF TVS .I am yet to form a final opinion but two things are clear -
1.TVS love is not GENUINE
2.The physical possession of SUGNI is a MAJOR motive along with her COMPLETE SURRENDER

@Piu

Wonderful discussion. I am also a fan of healthy discussions and debates! With the diversity of people on this forum I love hearing all sorts of points of view. I am always happy when I find a group where there is intelligent conversation not just gushing over the lead male actor. (which I don't mind engaging in but not all the time)

I totally get that you're looking at the storytelling aspect of the show and not judging! I respect that. Don't worry about replying and timing...this is fantasy world...there is a whole other real world for all of us!

PS: Some of you are/were Gulaal fans! *big sad sigh* I miss Gulaal...Kesar..Maansi...Neel! *sigh*
