Part 29

Next day at office..

The preparations for the party were in full swing. Geet was especially busy in winding up her project and doing the party preparations. As she did earlier with the presentation, she was putting great efforts in the party preparations. She was aware that Maan's feelings towards her were changing, what else could explain what all he did for the orphanage. The expressions in his eyes, yesterday, had haunted her the whole night. She could not allow it to go any further. Luckily she would not be near him for long and hoped that once she goes far from him, his feelings for her will also pass. But on the other hand she also did not want to give him any chance of complaint in the preparations. She had done a good job for this client and was expecting a good 'Feedback' from KC and hence a promotion in her own company. She did not want to spoil all her hard work for just a party even if she had never even attended such a big party. Moreover these clients were very important for Maan. She may accept it or not, Maan had occupied a spot in her mind and heart, especially after the Manali trip. She knew he believed in delivering the best and she could not let him down in front of his clients.

All this made Geet's schedule very busy. So busy it was that she didn't even notice how sometimes Maan had made an effort to talk to her. How the binds separating the two cabins have lately always remained opened and two curious eyes always settled at her, observing her, finding her every move graceful and every word enchanting. Maan had never dreamed that, a girl could affect him so much. He had never thought and cared so much about another person. His own thoughts were a little conflicting. That was why he was hesitating a bit in talking to her directly. He didn't know what to talk to her when he himself was not sure of his feelings.

The party day..

After the awkwardness of the first day, Karan did not try flirting with Geet and both of them got along well and worked together to organize the best party that this town had ever seen. The party was a lavish affair, to be hosted in one of the most expensive hotels of Amritsar. All the upper management of KC and Techno Computers were invited. The MD and some employees from Geet's company were also invited, hence Pari was also to attend the party.

Since Geet was too busy with the preparations, she had asked Pari to arrange for her dress and bring it straight to the venue, so that Geet can get ready there only.

How could Pari let such an opportunity go to waste. She knew that Maan had feelings for Geet and Geet too felt for him. It was just her past that was stopping her. So Pari formed a plan in her mind..

Maan always had this habit of being the first one on the venue in the parties he hosted, to make sure that all the preparations were fine. The second he entered the banquet hall, he was stunned by the decoration of that place. It was beautifully decorated with flowers and drapes. There light was a little dim creating a soothing ambience. Maan was impressed. Suddenly his eyes caught hold of Geet. She was standing in a corner of the room, discussing something with Karan. Geet suddenly laughed at something that Karan said. Maan immediately felt a pinch of jealousy at finding Karan standing so close to Geet and leaning a little towards her. He immediately went to them and called for their attention. Karan moved a little away from Geet.

"I hope aab tak aap logo ne saari tayaari kar di hongi. Guest kisi bhi waqt aane hi wale honge. Mujhe kisi bhi kism ki kami nhi chahiye" Maan said in an authoritative tone.

"Yeh bhi na'classic case of sadu hain. Humne itni achi prep ki hai usse to appreciate karenge nhi.. baas aapna hukum chalane aa gaye" Geet mumbled(but as usual a lil loudly.. kya karein.. aadat se majboor jo hai hamari Geet 😆).

But before Maan shows any reaction, Karan interrupted " Don't worry Maan. Hamari taraf se saari taiyari hain, jaisa ki aap dekh bhi sakte hain. Aur a prefect Italian platter is ready to be served to the guests. So I guess, aapko kisi cheez ki kami feel nahi hogi. We are ready for our guests"

Maan was a little pissed at Karan for interrupting him, but couldn't say him anything. Karan sensing Maan's mood took a leave on pretext of some work. Maan looked towards Geet, who also seemed almost ready to take off from there. She was not yet ready for the party.

"So I guess Miss Handa iss hi dress me aajke important clients ko receive karengi. Vaise tum iss party me kaise aao isse mujhe koi lena dena nahi hai, since tum KC ki employee nahi ho, but unfortunately, tumne mere saath presentation di thi aur clients tumhe jaante hain. Issliyia Miss Handa bajaye yaahan khade hoke logo ke sath socializing karne ke, tumhe iss party ke liyia appropriate kapado ka intezaam kar lena chayia" and he brushed passed a stunned Geet.

Geet called Pari.. "Kahan hai tu, abhi tak aayi kyun nahi, tujhe pata hai yahan haar paal Kroor Singh Khurana ka para chada jaa rha hai.."

"GEET GEET.. chill yaar, zara palat to sahi"

And there Pari was standing, with her angelic-devilish smile, holding a packet.

"Aapne pukara aur bandi haazir hai"

Geet.. "Pari.. waah yaar tu to aaj bhut sahi lag rhi hai. Kitne logo ko ghayal karne ka irada hai"

"Agenda me to mere aaj ekk hi shaks to kurban karna hai. Aur who bhi main nahi, tu hi karni vali hai Geet" Pari said in an under tone.

"Kya bol rhai hai Pari, mujhe kuch samajh nahi aaya" Geet said

Pari.. "Khuch nahi Geet and thank you very much for liking my dress, par tu aab jaldi se taiyaar ho ja, varna tera who KSK (Kroor Singh Khurana :P) tjhe dhoondta hua yahan aa jayega"

"Ekk minute Pari, man ekk baar aapni dress to dekh lun" and she took the packet from Pari's hands.

"NAHI GEET.. packet mat kholna abhi" Pari screamed. Geet looked at her surprised. Pari hurriedly feigned a smile "Mera matlab hai ki Geet, tu na andar hi dekhlena dress ko. Yahan time waste kyun karti hai. Aur mujhe bhi aab jana chahiye. Hamare boss aane wale honge. Tu na jaldi se tayaaar hokar aaja. Bye Geet. C u in the party" and Pari ran away from there, leaving a confused Geet there.

After 5 minutes, though Pari was at a safe distance, she could still feel Geet's curses which Geet might be giving her currently. But she did not have time for all this and now was the time for phase 2 of her plan. She found Maan standing with Adi, telling him something. As soon as Adi left from there, she immediately went upto Maan.

"Hii Maan, I am Pari, Geet's cologue and friend. I have heard a lot about you and its nice to finally meet you" and she extended her hand. Maan shook her hand but with a little suspicion.

"Maan I was wondering ki kya aap meri kuch help kar sakte hain. Actually hamare boss Geet se milna chah rhe hain, aur I can't find Geet anywhere. Mera phone bhi nahi lag rha hai. Kya aap pata laga sakte hain ki who kahan hai" and Pari made one of that innocent face.

"Sure main Geet ka abhi pata lagvata hun" said Maan

Maan thought.. "Geet abhi tak party me nahi aayi" he fumed and dialed her cell.

There Geet was confused over what to do, since Pari had set her up in such a fix. She neither wanted to wear the dress Pari had got for her, not could she go in the party in her current clothes, since Maan had already commented on them. "Babaji, yeh mere hi saath kyun hota hai.." she was mumbling, when her phone started ringing, flashing Maan sir on her screen. "Iss Dusht Danav ka bhi abhi hi call aana tha kya. Kya karu aab main..Babaji..help" (Babaji might be thinking.. help hi to kar raha hun beta 😛'. Maan jaisa var dilane ki koshish 😉)

"Hhhaaeello.."

"Geet, kahan ho tum. Abhi tak party me kyun nahi aayi. Mr Ahuja kisi bhi waqt yahan aa sakte hain. Unke saamne tumhe yahan hona hoga. So I don't know how, par agle 5 min me mujhe tum yahan iss party me present chahiye ho" and Maan disconnected the line.

Now Geet had no other option than wearing the dress Pari had got for her.
