Do reality shows produce only Stage show artists?

After every show we think that this singer will surely make name in Bollywood but it happens rarely.

Are we wrong in our judgement? Are we misled by the huge comments from Judges during the show?

Do these reality shows just produce singers for stage shows ?

Should we be satisfied that most of these singers just do stage shows or sing a song here and there in a regional movie or some lines in a Bollywood song.

What are the reasons for these singers not getting opportunities from Bollywood MDs?

My reason is after making name from these shows they stop working hard as they get many stage shows and money thereof. I think these singers after making name from these shows should first learn and understand Hindi and Urdu fully so that they can pronounce each and every word perfectly as well as give right feel to the lyrics of a song. No MD has time to make a singer understand the lyrics and correct his or her diction while recording a song.

This is just my personal view members can share their views too.

Well this issue is a complex one. Things seem to work out best for the channels and singers. The channels want viewership and search for young talent in need of a platform to showcase their skills. So, the channel makes money off them while they participate in the show and rope them in to contracts afterwords for stage performances all over the world and make even more money off them while the singers get to perform and share their gift with the world. It's not all that easy: stage shows one after another are tough, hours are long and these singers are away from loved ones for extended periods of time so it's not all fun and games. Both parties (singers / channel) benefit. The problem is somehow, music directors aren't as enthusiastic to give big breaks to new comers or, if they give a newbie a song, most of the time it isn't the most popular of the film's sountrack. It seems once music directors find their "good luck charm" in a singer, they don't experiment too much. Couple that with the fact that each year, so many new singers are introduced to the industry from these shows while the industry is hesitant to accept them as quickly as they arive on the scene. New talent does best when either a brave music director will give them a chance or when some singers begin to exit the scene and sing fewer and fewer songs, that makes room for new talent. So short term, we have a bunch of very talented stage singers on the scene but give it some time, it's too early to tell how the future of these talents will be shaped.

Some of these singers are on the scene from almost 4-5 years and are appearing on new reality shows every year still they are not getting any big opportunity in bollywood.

Bollywood is not the only place to showcase talent. There are very strong regional industries across India.

Sometimes I feel angry when I see some of these singers come on stage after preparing for the whole week to sing a 3 minute song on stage and they falter in pronouncing some important words correctly. When I see this I feel that they are not dedicated or serious.

Bollywood is not the be all or end all one has to strive to become a good musician, to bring depth and go deeper in the world of notes, there are so many good singers around who do not sing regularly for Bollywood why would anyone take these copy book singers.
At this stage they should have been playing with the song infusing some originality some creative input making the original sound slightly different playing with the ragas etc, but here they are struggling to keep the original song alive, they have still not graduated to the next level.
Even after so many years of singing they have failed to work upon their weaknesses and are content with playing a safe game
Nihira : not interested in winning, had switched careers does not seem interested to pursue singing as a career.
Vaishali instead of focussing on the job at hand she got distracted with politics in the show
Anwesha once touted as the singing sensation grown into a very ordinary singer dependant upon fans and the judges and the show to remind her of her potential
Aneek has played a safe game usually sticking to songs sung in Sa re ga ma pa 2007 bhava missing in his songs
Sharib has no control over his emotions if anyone appreciates him then they haven't heard Toshi's singing
Irfan the Rahul Dravid of singing consistent but a bore
Akansha young and inexperienced.
If I were you I wouldn't denigrate regional music they produce better music than the trash that B churns out movie afte movie at least the recent marathi movies like Ajintha, Tukaram are worth appreciating.

I wonder if it's because these singers have no conncetions or is it the MDs are afraid to offend the existing singers!

Good post👏

I was a real admirer of Toshi's singing in star voice of india. He was phenomenal.😳After that i have not experienced the magic he wove in that show. Compared to that, i feel Sharib has been relatively consistent in his singing, though he too is mercurial😊

Irfan may be a bore[ in what way, i don't know]😕, but he has not realised his potential, i feel. You can constantly see a fear in his eyes, holding him back.

I totally agree with what you have written in the beginning.

When most of these contestants cannot Improve their hindi and urdu diction, foraying into regional lingo, is blasphemy in my opinion.

To be honest, these reality show singers are given a chance in regional songs, only for a novelty factor and a new voice. No sane music director will repeat them on a regular basis if their pronunciations are poor and expecting them to master a new language and diction is like asking for the moon.

The only singer as far as i know who is repeated on a regular basis is Shreya ghoshal in regional songs.😊

Having said that, i think these singers are best suited for stage shows and reality shows.Harsh and bitter truth.😳

I think it is none of that😊

How many of these singers have a spark of originality in them?

One variation here and there and the judges go ga-ga and so do we, incl moi😆 Every music director looks for something more, either overt or latent to give them a chance. If most don't make it, why blame the MDs?They have not seen something which they were looking for. As simple as that.

How can any MD offend these existing singers?

When 90 percent of the MDs lend their own voice or the actors/ actresses do, the existing singers themselves wonder when their recorded song may be replaced, i think we are thinking far too ahead.😆

We need a different voice, something unusual to make an impact in todays world of fast food, low attention span etc to stand out.

If someone sounds like shreya, that person will never get a chance, when there is an original. simple ?
