A Sweet Dream

A dream is something you believe in, you hope for. When, how and if this dream of yours is going to become true; you never know but don't stop hoping. And thats what Kripa Sharma did. She kept dreaming even when the people she trusted the most shattered those very dreams.

Her career blossomed and she became one of the most well known psychologists. And thats when she was given the case of Angad Khanna; a rich lawyer. All of Kripa's dreams were fulfilled except for one, her most treasured and sweet dream: Her prince charming.
Will it become true or will she end up living the life her parents decide for her?

So, i had discontinued this FF earlier but i've decided to continue it now. 😃 I honestly have NO IDEA why i stopped it. The concept was so good. 😆 Anyhow, prior to my discontinuation, i had written three chapters to it so those are posted below. Please do comment and let me know what you think.

Chapter One

Kripa stared at her diary. The very first entry she had made, back in 2007, grade 6. She had written how she was sick of her mother taking her brother's side the most and was also so sick of how her aunt bossed her around all the time. She was sick of all those fights that happened in her family. And she was sick of her best friend ignoring her for others.
Kripa shook her head sighing. That was then and this was now. Here she was in London, her birth place as a sucessful psychologist. She was startled out of her dream world when there was a knock on her door. "Come in." Kripa called sitting up straight in her chair. "Miss. Sharma?" Lola, her secretory said walking in. "Hi Lola." Kripa greeted her formally. Lola smiled and put a file down on Kripa's desk. "Miss.Sharma this is your new patient." Kripa stared at the red file for a moment. "Okay. You can go." Kripa muttered. Lola walked out the door quietly closing it behind her. Kripa opened up the file and stared at the first page that had a picture of a man around the age of 24. Beside his picture was his name, age, profession and other personal details. Kripa picked up the phone when it rung. "Hello?" Kripa said. "Miss.Sharma?" She heard on the other end. "Yes." Kripa said to the manly, deep voice. "I'm Angad Khanna." Said the person on the other end. Kripa looked at the first page of the file that had the exact name on it. "Hello Angad. Is there someway i could help you? You're appointment with me is tomorrow." Kripa informed him. A quiet chuckle sounded from the other side. "Of course. My appointment." Angad said bitterly. "Well i'll see tomorrow then Miss.Sharma." Angad said hanging up. Kripa put the phone down and scanned through Angad Khanna's file.
His father had reccomended the classes Kripa noted. She glanced at her clock and closed her file. Time to go home, Kripa thought. She hated going home and facing her dysfunctional family.
***
Once Kripa entered her house, her dad was sitting in front of the TV with a bottle of alcohol in his hand. Kripa shook her head. If her father didn't get his alcohol by 7 then he'd freak and throw a fit and thats the reason why he needed dinner layed out by 6 which always resulted in Kripa eating alone. She said a quick hello to her father who replied with a grim hello back. Kripa entered the kitchen and warmed up her dinner and sat down to eat. After Kripa was done, she walked back to the living room and this time her mom was sitting in front of the TV as well. Her little brother Armaan sat on the other couch reading some magazine. Kripa took a seat beside her brother and waited for her mom's usual questions. "How was work Kripa?" Her mother asked. "Great." I muttered. She nodded and faced the TV once again. Kripa sat there like a statue pretending to be interested in the TV, for a whole hour. At 9:00 sharp, Kripa stood up and said a quick goodnight to her parents and then walked to her room. She grabbed her pyjamas and took a 15 minute shower and then slid into bed. She closed her eyes and smiled. This was her favourite moment at home. The moment where she could just close her eyes and fade to her dream world and forget the world. She smiled sweetly as the best dream of her dreams floated in her subconscious mind. Her sweet dream...her prince charming.

Chapter Two

"Send him in." Kripa instructed her secretory over the phone. A few minutes later, the door opened and in stepped a built man that was around the height of 6'2. And Kripa had to admit, Angad Khanna looked hotter in real life than the pictures. She stood up and shook his outstretched hand. "Please take a seat Mr. Khanna." Kripa said motioning toward the sofa. She pulled out a chair and sat across from him. "Just call me Angad." He said sounding bored. Kripa nodded. "So tell me, you are a lawyer?" Kripa inquired. Angad rolled his eyes and crossed his arms across his chest. "Everybody knows that. Tell me about yourself." Angad said flirtatiously. Kripa fought the urge to roll her eyes. "Please try and co-operate with me, we don't have much time anyways." Kripa said taking out her notebook and pen. "Do you know why you are here?" Kripa asked. Angad grinned. "Of course. Because my step-father thinks i am messed up in the head and have issues." Angad replied rolling his tongue in his cheek. "Why do you think he thinks like that?" Kripa asked leaning forward. Angad shrugged. "I don't know. I don't talk to him much. Who cares what he thinks? I wouldn't have been here if it weren't for my mother." Angad said bitterly. "Do you have friends?" Kripa asked. Angad gave her a look. "Of course i do." He muttered puzzled. "Do you hang out with them?" Kripa asked him. "What do else do you do with your friends?" Angad scoffed. Kripa sighed. "Do you have a girlfriend?" Kripa asked. Angad smirked and leaned forward. "No, i don't. Not for you." Angad said with a crooked smile. "I meant- i wasn't asking because-i just," Kripa was cut off. "I get it. It's ok. To answer your question, yes. I have girlfriends." Angad said leaning back again. "Girlfriends?" Kripa questioned. "What? Is it a law to only have one? And being a lawyer, i think i know the law pretty well." Angad replied. Kripa took a deep breath. "Alright. Is there a friend of yours or someone that you can trust and talk to about everything?" Kripa asked. Angad rolled his eyes. "I don't need help okay? I am perfectly fine. I don't need to talk to anyone." Angad said annoyed. Kripa smiled slightly. Ah, there is the problem. She thought. "Something funny?" Angad questioned. Kripa looked at her watch and grinned at Angad. "I don't like to talk to anyone. You're times up. Make your next appt. at the front desk." Kripa said standing up. Angad stood up and studied her for a while making her feel self conscious. "So you're telling me i do need help." Angad said in a clipped tone. Kripa shrugged. Angad sighed and walked out without a bye or anything. Kripa shook her head. If Kripa knew one thing, then that was that, Angad Khanna was not only going to be her hardest case but probably the most mysterious as well.
***
The ring of Kripa's cell brought her out of her dreamworld. "Hello?" Kripa said. "Kripa! Are you free?" Kiran Dutta yelled into the phone. Kripa laughed. "Yes Kiran. Why?" She questioned. "I was bored. Lets go for coffee!" Kiran suggested. Kripa smiled. "Sure." Kripa replied. "See you at Starbucks in half an hour!" Kiran said hanging up. Kripa grabbed her jacket and drove to Starbucks.
***
"So...maybe i should just date him." Kiran said thoughtfully. Kripa laughed. "Whats this guy like?" Kripa asked. "Oh! Kartik's really sweet. His family and my family have been best friends since God knows when, just like our families!" Kiran said excited. Kripa nodded. "So you like him." Kripa said quickly. Kiran nodded. "Well then you should say yes to him." Kripa suggested. Kiran nodded again. "Kartik invited me to a party tomorrow. It's like a youngster party or whatever, you have to come with me. I need moral support." Kiran said desperatly clutching Kripa's hand. Kripa laughed again. "Okay okay. I'll come. But right now, i have to get home." Kripa said getting up. "Bye!" Kiran said grinning.
***
Kripa entered her house and found a grim looking Armaan. She rolled her eyes and opened the fridge. "Whats with you?" She asked. Armaan ignored her and continued to look at the blank TV screen. "Fine, don't tell me." Kripa said annoyed. "UGH! It's...i...Dad pisses me off so much sometimes!" Armaan exploded. Kripa walked over to him and sat down beside him. "What happened?" She asked. Armaan muttered stuff under his breath. "He told me to get his medication for him and i got it because but i didn't read the name. It was the same medicine of course but mom's. When dad read the name, he freaked. He said he didn't understand how i became a doctor. I was an idiot and other stuff." Armaan finally finished with his face red with anger. "Do you realize how hard it was for me to keep my anger in check!" Armaan exclaimed looking at Kripa. "I told you need anger management classes." Kripa said lightly. Armaan glared at her and stormed out of the house. Kripa groaned. What the hell was wrong with her family? "Who just slammed the door? What happened?" Her aunt yelled from upstairs. Kripa clenched her hands into fists. It was none of her business what happened in the house! It wasn't her house! Kripa thought bitterly. "NOTHING!" Kripa yelled. She walked to her room and opened up a book to read.
Another one of her favourite things to do. Reading always took her into another world and she loved that feeling. Anything that would pull her out and away from her family and her life, she was fine with it and in fact she loved it!

Chapter Three

"Kripa hurry up!" Kiran yelled from the bottom of the stairs. "I'm coming!" Kripa yelled back irriatated. Kripa walked down the stairs wearing a white halter shirt with a black knee length skirt. The two girls walked out of the house and walked to the car.
***
Kiran took the keys out of the ignition and took a deep breath. Kripa laughed watching her so worried. "Calm down hun, take a deep breath and think of positive things." Kripa instructed carefully. Kiran nodded and did as she was told to. "Let's go." Kiran said grinning. Kripa shook her head chuckling and stepped out of the car.
The two slowly walked to the door of the huge house. Kiran rung the doorbell. A moment later, a man around the hieght of 6' opened the door. He had dark brown hair and grey eyes. He was actually pretty handsome. "Hey you made it!" He exclaimed grinning at Kiran. "Yeah. Oh Kartik, meet Kripa Sharma. She's my best friend and Kripa, this is Kartik Kapoor." Kiran said. Kartik smiled and shook Kripa's hand. "A pleasure to meet you Kripa." Kartik mumbled. "Same here." Kripa replied. Kartik left to attend another guest after having a quick conversation with Kiran and Kripa. "He's nice." Kripa said turning to Kiran who grinned back in reply. Kripa was surprised when someone tapped her on the shoulder from behind. She turned around and found herself face to face with Angad Khanna, her patient. "Hey Doc! What are you doing here?" Angad asked grinning. Kiran laughed. "She's my best friend. Angad how do you know Kripa?" Kiran asked. "She's my doctor. I'm her patient." Angad explained winking at Kripa. Kiran bit her lip and looked around. "Kay, i'll catch you guys later." Kiran yelled before leaving. Kripa sighed and faced Angad again. "Do you wanna dance?" Angad offered. Kripa not knowing what to say, just nodded. Angad took her hand and took her where everyone was dancing. He leaned forward so he she could hear him so that he didn't have to yell. "It's nice to see you looking normal for once." Angad remarked smirking. Kripa looked up and stared right into his hazel eyes. She gave him a sharp look. "Are you saying i usually look abnormal?" Kripa demanded. Angad grinned. "I meant to say you look professional everytime we meet so it's great to see you looking you know, normal, casual, whatever you call it." Angad muttered. Kripa rolled her eyes.
***
Kripa grabbed a cup of punch from the punch table and sat down on a stool. Angad was still dancing but he was dancing with another girl now. Kripa sipped her punch. She shook her head trying to clear her view when it became blurry. Her head did wierd things to her and she felt queasy in her stomach. Kiran walked over to her and saw the cup in her hand. "You shouldn't have drunk the punch." Kiran said amused. Kripa squinted trying to look at Kiran clearly. "What?" She asked trying to register what Kiran had said. "I said you shouldn't have drunk the punch. Some idiot spiked it. Kartik just told me." Kiran mumbled. Kripa gasped horrified. She was drunk??! Never in her life did Kripa drink and now she couldn't go home drunk! Her parents would kill her. Kiran understood what Kripa was thinking looking at her expression. "I'll tell aunty and uncle you're staying with me tonight." Kiran assured Kripa and then walked off to call them.
Kripa bit her lip and clutched the counter when she realized she was going to vomit. Angad walked over to her and put a hand on her arm. "Are you ok?" He asked sounding concerned. Kripa shook her head. "Wheres your bathroom?" She asked quickly. Angad took her hand and pushed through the crowd. He opened the door to someone's bedroom and opened another door that led to a bathroom. Kripa shut the door behind her and leaned over the toilet. She felt much better once the alcohol was out of her system. Kripa leaned her cheek against the mirror and rinsed her mouth. A while later she opened the door and saw Angad sitting on the bed flipping through a magazine. He looked up and grinned that annoying grin of his. "I bet you're tired." Angad said. Kripa shook her head trying to hide the truth. Angad rolled his eyes. "I'm a lawyer. I know when someone's lying." Angad said smirking. He stood up and sat her down on the bed. "Don't worry. You can sleep here. Kiran can stay here with you if you're scared." Angad said winking. Kripa groaned inwardly. "Good night Doc." Angad said before closing the door behind him.
***
Kripa woke up abruptly the next morning. She looked at the time that read 7 o' clock. Kiran stirred beside her and looked up at Kripa. "Go to sleep Kripa. It's only 7." Kiran mumbled. "No! I have to get home Kiran! I have patients coming at 8!" Kripa gasped. She stood up in a rush, fixed her hair and pulled Kiran up. Kiran threw her car keys at Kripa. "Kartik will drop me off." She murmured falling asleep again. Kripa opened the door and ran down the stairs but slowed down when she saw two elderly people sitting at the table. "Hello dear. Kartik told us what happened last night. Are you ok now?" The lady asked. Kripa smiled. "Yes. Aunty. Thank you. I should leave now." Kripa said politely. The women smiled.
