Prologue
"But what is the problem Dad? I have to get married three months from now! All I am asking is a vacation for a month. That is it!"
"You're not going anywhere Khushi. It's no use shouting."
"But Dad, it's just us girls. I am not even going with any guys. Even Armaan doesn't have a problem with that. So why can't I go?"
"Khushi, it is high time you learn to be responsible."
"I am going to work with Armaan after my marriage, so what's the big deal?" Khushi scowled. "As it is, I am going to be useless around here. Mom won't let me do anything anyway." She grinned in her mother's direction who gave her a thumbs up. She had already convinced her for the holiday, it was her father who needed the convincing.
Garima came forward and placed her hand over her husband's shoulder. "She is right, Shashi. Let her go off with her friends. It will be one of the memorable experiences."
"You are a very clever brat Khushi!" He came ahead and lightly twisted his daughter's right ear. "You know I can't refuse your mother anything."
"Dad!" She exclaimed as she writhed in pain.
"But promise me one thing Khushi, would you?"
"Anything Dad." The pain was instantly gone, excitement had taken over her.
"Don't do anything that will make me regret letting you go. And take care of yourself, honeypuff." He caressed the top of her head.
"Of course Dad! You won't have to regret anything!" She engulfed her father into a rib-crashing hug.
She came rushing into her room and landed on her bed on her back with a thud. She looked up on the ceiling, the stars that hung there were mirrored in her own eyes. Anybody could tell that she was damn excited about the trip. She quickly got hold of her phone. She put two of her friends on conference.
"Get ready for Goa, bitches!"
"Mr. Mills." He went forward to shake his hand firmly.
"Take a seat, Jason." Bryan Mills indicated Jason to be seated. He then rummaged through a drawer and took out a file. He neatly placed it before him.
"What work do you have for me?" His eyes were watchful, his tone direct. He was seated stiffly in the comfortable chair. All his nerves were on alert. After all, the life of a CIA agent doesn't come easy.
"Jason Bourne." Mills took a deep breath. "You are the best agent this agency has ever produced." Jason didn't seem to be perturbed by the appreciation. "You are special and I have something special for you." He handed him over the file which was neatly placed on his desk moments ago and urged him to read it. Jason opened the file and began going over the contents. He was a bit surprised, but neither his eyes, nor his face betray any emotion.
"India?" His voice was calm, yet questioning.
"Yes. India. Your next mission is in India. I wanted to send someone else on this mission, but you cannot ignore the orders that come from high above. They want you to go there."
"Why?"
"Your Indian origin is an advantage. But I am sure there is more to it." Bryan went into deep thought. On the face of it, this seemed to be a very simple mission. Couple of local drug lords creating havoc. It was nothing big. But still orders are orders. And he was instructed that their best man, Bourne be sent for that mission. There was sure more to it.
But Jason was not going to question it. He didn't even remember about his Indian roots. It was as if he had abandoned them on the way to becoming Jason Bourne. He was assigned a mission, he would do it. "When do I have to leave?" He had closed the file and placed it back on the table, in the exact same manner in which it was kept initially.
"Tomorrow. First flight in the morning." Bryan gave him a curt nod. He handed him over a parcel. He watched his retreating back as Jason left the Virginia building in long, purposeful strides. This was the last he saw of him.

Goa had always been one of her favourite places in the world. She had been here numerous times, but she didn't seem to ever get bored of the place. The serene sea, the long beaches, the beautiful sunset... She couldn't get enough of this place. As the plane wheeled its way to a stop, Khushi closed her eyes for a moment, wanting to capture each and every moment of this trip. She had gone to great lengths to ensure that she came to Goa before getting married off to Armaan. He was a good human being, everybody liked him. She did too. But he was never able to ignite that fire within her, a fire that had the potential to consume her. He was more like her BFF- best friend forever, rather than her fiance. Coming to Goa, which held a special place in her heart, a tiny part of hers wished for something magical to happen to her.
Little did she know, something much bigger than that awaited her.

He trudged along the heavy bag as he entered the lush terminal of the LAX. He took out his passport, tickets and the boarding pass. It was his 10th passport till date. Everywhere he went, he had a new identity. He was a new person. He went through all the security checks and now stood in the queue to board the flight. He handed over his passport to the beautiful flight attendant before he went through the door. She opened it to have one last check.
"Welcome aboard American Airlines. I hope you have a safe flight, Mr. Arnav Singh Raizada." She said his name in her twisted accent.
